Recently i changed the shock absorber position from the standard 2 to 1. I now notice that there is a peculiar wear pattern on the left side of rear tire. at some places the rubber is slightly nicked away. could this be the chain rubbing against the tire. I removed the chain cover and made sure that nothing has got in between the tire and swing arm. Please help me with your suggestions.

Softening the suspension may increase the amount of bottoming out the rear suspension, which may be causing the nicks in the rear tire. I'd suggest adjusting the suspension to the 3 setting for a firmer ride.

but if that nick happens,as jsonder said,it must be uniform, not towards one side in particular
if there is any alignment problem.
Chain will not rub the tyre unless the rim of rear tyre bent or misalligned/wobbling

get it checked by getting someone check your rear while u ride.

I recommend 3-4 setting of shocks for good cornering, and inflating the tyre to 29/29psi if single
and 29/33psi with pillion.

I use 29/35 as me and my dad, weigh around 170kilogram
and little safety for rear tyre for sudden bumps are required
