Hi, All:
Posted this in the CBR650 forum as well, but this forum has far more participants and the problem isn't probably model-specific:

Turned on my CBR650F this morning, and when I tried to roll it back out of my garage, I felt the brakes dragging. I can move the bike, but it certainly doesn't roll easily like it should. Rear brakes appear to be disengaged. The ABS light stays on.

Any tips on what I can do? It's relatively new, so I can take it in for service to my local shop, but any advice/comments are most welcome.

Thank you,
Matt Wood

I'm guessing the brakes on the CBF are also linked together (i.e. if you brake in the front you brake in the rear automatically)? If so, are both brakes dragging front and rear?

Is it just one section of brakes?

Have you checked your fluid level? (it's could something could be up)

Have one of the wheel speed sensors been damaged.

You have to look :). A PICTURE SAYS A THOUSAND WORDS <<<< AND YOU TOOK>>>> NONE!

On the 250 the rear brake actually activates the front brake too, not the other way around.:wink2:
@mattwoodtx
Sorry, can't really help you there but if your bike is still under warranty you should get it inspected by the shop.

sometimes a tiny piece of gravel etc can get stuck
in the brake pad, for example, which can be
tested by free spinning or attempting that
with either wheel..

however, in your situations and it being brakes,,
best option is to contact your dealer [svc manager]
and ask for specific advice within context of
your warranty process, and of course
basic safety..

this may include riding it in
or not, and suchlike..

Well, I'm embarrassed to say that it wasn't brakes after all but a 1/2 flat rear tire! Didn't have time in the morning to look things over carefully - found the bit of metal in the tire last night.

Time to order new tires, I guess!

Thanks all, for the comments.

ah, the little things of life...

and assumption..
i/we assumed from your description, posted
on multiple forums, not a typial novice cbr650f,
abs light involvement, rational description etc,
that you would have checked and discovered
a half flat tyre with a bit of metal in it..

still, lesson learned,,
probably..
