I love the carbon fiber, how exactly did you "wrap" it.
Basically I started by buying some cheap carbon fiber wrap off eBay to practice with. Wrapped a few things around the house like my laptop etc. Once I was happy I bought some good quality 3m stuff. It’s as simple as peeling the back off the wrap to expose the sticky side, heating it up (I used a hair dryer) and wrapping the piece you want, heating as you go. Always start from the middle and work your way out being sure not to leave any bubbles. It can become very difficult to work with as it cools so keep going back to the hairdryer.

You will need to remove each piece to wrap it.

Very nice, I should get some carbon wrap.

I dont like the 3m stuff too much, it shrinks in the sun after a while, Have in on my car and its shrunk.

Yeah your right. I havent found one yet that doesn't shrink though. You can manage that while you put it on by not pulling it all too tight. I just found the 3m to be of the best quality and the pattern to be the most realistic.

Sorry but I really don't like fake Carbon Fiber like the belly pan... Probably because I have the real stuff in my car, my tank pad, and even a Tungsten Carbide with Carbon Fiber inlay ring lol.

The plastics with the wrap are nice but that's not carbon fiber it's Carbon Leather look. Like BMW's have, they sell it as "carbon fiber" but it's just a sales gimmick hehe. I'm not against Carbon Leather at all though and I like the wrapped plastics.

Example of Carbon Leather in an M3

You mentioned u were deciding on an exhaust I'm trying to decide which as well. Everyone I've heard so far makes the bike sound like a dirt bike do u know of any low throaty sounding exhausts.

Agreed. I havent really found one I would say I love except for the Moriwaki buts its way to expensive. At this stage im swayed to the 2bros Titanium Black because its looks good and price is reasonable

What kind of 3M Carbon Fiber did you use to wrap your heat shield with?
You should be able to find what you want by doing a google search for 3M Carbon Fiber Vinyl Wrap.

When digging up some of these old threads, you have to keep in mind that a lot of these members haven't been active on the site in a very long time, so it's pretty unlikely that you'll get a response from them.

Thanks. Yep, I've googled carbon fiber wraps... but just searched for threads here about carbon fiber wrap to get actual person's experience in regards to wrapping the heat shield.

I figured the thread may be old but if it gets bumped, then new/active members would see my query and may have some input regarding their own experience.

I don't know who but my bike just got knocked over to the side and left my heat shield all scratched up (minor scratches on the bar ends and turning signal).

I'll post photos when I get home from work. Any suggestions/comments about what else do I need to check on the bike/how to fix the scratches/how to avoid getting the bike knocked over/etc? Thanks.

I just used carbon fibre wrap off eBay, forget which 3M it was, it was about a year ago. I've since removed the boat anchor. :p
