It seems my 300R will only top out around 97 mph and won't even hit 99 mph like I've seen in the youtube video. I thought I'd get it up to 100 but nope, dang. Anybody else disappointed in the top speed of the 250 or 300?

Well, it's not a racer...

A lot of factors can affect top speed. Are you shifting at redline in each gear? Are you a large person?

Tucked down all the way?

You can't believe the speedo - it's optimistic.

It's going to take a while, even if everything is right, but there aren't many good places to go that fast anyway - except the track.

I'm 140 lbs. and letting the engine pull top speed in 6th when the freeway is open with no cars in front and an extra lane on my right. I tuck as much as I can so I can still watch the road. The engine won't hit redline within a good 1/2 mile stretch in 6th gear. My GPS device has registered 95 mph and the most I've seen on the speedo is 97 mph. The speedo is not off by much, a couple percent unlike my other bikes. Last top speed run (I've seen 108 one time) on my DRZ400 showed 103 mph and registered 94 mph on my GPS on the same run same device. The CBR300 speedo on my bike is pretty accurate. The Ninja 300 I had got up to 111 mph one time and could get to an indicated 103-105 any day of the week. I never GPS checked the Ninja 300.

I wouldn't get too hung up on top speed, it'll vary with weather conditions and many other factors. Any bike is past it's best when you get to 90% of whatever it's top speed is and if I wanted to do 100mph regularly I'd get a 600 or bigger. As long as yours accelerates healthily to 70-75 you've no cause for concern.

Did you downshift or shift at redline in 5th before clicking into 6th?

You'll need your chin on the tank if you want top speed.

Surprised your speedo is accurate, just a different tire brand in the same size will throw it off (or make it right).

Don't know what to tell you. Make sure all your maintenance is done (air filter, chain adj and lube, etc).

CBRs just aren't that fast. Not sure I've ever heard of a Ninja 300 making it to 111 (actual).

Instead of being concerned with your bike going 0-100, think about your body going from 100-0. On pavement.

Slow down. :)

Well, that's the first thing I was going to say: what about the slope? And the second: what about head wind/tail wind? That can make a LOT of a difference!

Can't go 100 mph in bumper to bumper traffic. When I can go fast, I go as fast as I can until I can't. The motorcycles I own get pushed. Fastest bike I have right now is a CBR600F3 from '97. It's a 49 state model. It should do 150 mph in the open but around So Cal my CBR300 is just as fast, under 100 mph. I'll let you know if or when I crack 100 mph on my 300. My 124cc Grom does 74 mph GPS and 79 indicated after bumping my rev limit to 10k. Only had 9700 rpm in this video.

73 mph GPS on a Grom hit at the 7:11 mark.

My CBR300R speedo is right on... when / if my cbr300 shows 100 mph I'm declaring victory!
