Why is it that abs isnt good on gravel roads? Mines non abs, just interested to know.
On gravel or dirt, there is very little traction between tire and the surface; braking with ABS preventing the wheel from locking up takes a long, long time. Without ABS locked wheel can either break through the surface and find more traction in the layer below, or it can dig into the dirt and build up a little dirt bank in front of it, which makes for pretty effective braking... as long as you can stay upright that is. But sometimes a low speed spill could be preferable to not stopping and driving off the cliff, or smack into a tree for example... So that's the logic behind non-ABS for dirt riding.

Well said.

And this is why your higher end dual sports (ie. R1200GS, etc. ) have the ability to disable the ABS on the fly by a simple push of a button.
Absolutely, but key words here are 'higher end' and 'dual sports' - and CBR250 is neither. So while I agree it would be nice for its ABS to be switcheable, I'm not really surprised that it isn't.
