Helmet bluetooth kit > bike audio system. Also a lot cheaper at $160. Plus it is hands free for cell phone and if you have GPS on your phone you can hear the instructions.

I'm all for making it more convenient for daily use but I just don't do anything like a sound system lol. I've just got my iPhone docked on the bike and I'm retrofitting a charger in on a relay so that it will turn on and off with the ignition. That with a bluetooth kit on my helmet = clean, functional, and discrete.

Best bluetooth kit I can find on the market (best reviewed) Sena SMH-10

I really did just get a nice backpack for riding hehe. It's got a pocket thats great for a water bottle or thermos. Now I can pick up my morning coffee on the way to work haha. (to drink AT work lol)

im pretty sure with the way iset up my audio i will be able to hear it. but thanks for your concern.

The sad part is this is probably true and not just for him.........

Not sure about the external speakers idea but take a look at marine speakers. At least they're built to withstand those kinds of conditions.
Even those you gotta avoid letting them get over exposed to the sun and rain.
