Hello guys, so I own a Hornet 250 CB250Ft but the previous owner installed a CBR250RR engine, It's MC14E-105 (I think CBR250RR(N) MC22?).

So my chassis/cdi/wiring is from a hornet 250, with 16500 rpm rev limit,I bought an MC22 CDI, which has the same 16 pin connection, I tried it and I can rev until 19000 but after 4K RPM it's misfiring, like I run out of fuel or something.
I got a video but on neutral, if you can listen to the sound, it's a lot worse when in gear, bike won't move and sounds like crap.

Any ideas? Might be the wiring in the ignition coils wrong with the new CDI?

Hi and welcome to the forum.
The forum specializes in the CBR250R model, which has a single-cylinder engine, and cuts off the ignition at 10,000 rpm (without cuts off the ignition, it can also reach 12,000 rpm).

Does your engine have one or four cylinders? So I don't know the engine you are talking about, I watched the video you uploaded to YouTube, and the sound of your engine sounds to me accurate and good.
I don't understand anything about the new adjustments you updated on your motorcycle, but I do understand the engine sounds and it sounds like a normal sound to me.

It is possible that under load the engine's behavior will be different, then you need to start with an orderly procedure to locate the fault:
I would start with the spark, if there is a good spark that mean that the entire ignition system including CDI is good?
Then I would check the fuel, is the fuel supply system OK?
A compression leak can also cause a similar problem, but I don't think your problem is a valve adjustment or bad cylinder type.

Hello and thanks for your reply!

This engine is an inline 4 cylinder,it works perfectly fine with the stock hornet cdi.
But with the cbr250rr cdi (Which my engine is, but wiring/tachmeter and everything else is hornet) one it does misfire like when you run out of fuel. Might sound good in youtube but I could hear it struggling in person.
That's why I thought the problem might be the ignition coil wiring going in a wrong firing order, but I have no idea what the cause might be .

At least according to the noise I hear, there doesn't seem to be a "window" in the ignition sequence that could indicate a certain plug that doesn't give a spark (for whatever reason).

As far as I understand, your ignition order is every 90 degrees, so anyway it is impossible for you to connect in the wrong order, in the wrong order the engine would not work well, and more likely it would not work at all.
but I have no idea what the cause might be .
But start with something simple, and progress to the complicated.
Have you checked the battery and the charging system yet?
And also a spark test is considered relatively easy.
A compression test can also give a general idea of the condition of the engine, and this is also not considered a complicated test.
But with a 4 cylinder engine there is no such thing as "uncomplicated", you need a lot of knowledge and patience, if you have both, then take your time... eventually you will find what is wrong.
And of course you can go to a certified mechanic in your area.

I think it sounds like not running in all 4 cylinders.
Charging system and everything is in good condition because the engine runs fine with the hornet CDI.
The only problem is when swapping CDI's with the hornet harness.

Do you suggest focusing the problem on the Harness/Wires?
If this is the case, maybe do an experiment, troubleshooting always involves experimenting, maybe you put the previous wiring harness back in and see if the problem goes away?
