I am getting my bike ready for the winter, and I have a few questions about the battery. First, I live in the Chicago area and have a detached unheated garage. Is it OK to leave the battery in the bike on a tender for the winter, or should I bring it in the house? I have read differing opinions on that. Also, the instructions for the battery tender have different instructions for positive or negative ground batteries. Maybe I am missing something, but I can't tell which is the ground. I would really appreciate if someone with more experience could give me an explanation of exactly how to hook up my battery tender to ensure that I don't damage the bike, and can fire it right up in the spring.

Thanks.

Its best to bring it into the house and keep the battery tender on it. The red cover over the post is positive while in the bike. Negative is black, red is positive.
