Thought I would start a new thread because I know a few riders are interested. I just got an email response (a week or 2 after my inquiry) from DDC. They've had a delay in production and will let me know as soon as the cbr250r sprockets are ready.

I am also trying to get info on other Thai made sprockets that are available and will post details as they are available. I expect to have some info in the next couple of hours regarding a Thai made 15/36 tooth sprocket set.

Here are the prices I pay

steel = 1200 baht aluminum= 1600 baht

If you guys want to do a group buy post here or let me know. Obviously I will have to pay to have them sent to me and pay again to ship them to you. 20% markup on top of all expenses is fine :)

$40 plus shipping plus mark up for steel. Youch. That's quite a bit higher than DDC originally quoted you for a direct buy. It is still worth it to me to have an OEM quality steel 36T rear sprocket. So I am in for 1 and will buy and reship in the US for anyone else that wants anything. Tyga has 37-44T aluminum for $30 right now so that would be a lot cheaper. I highly recommend changing to a 15T front for anyone who commutes at 65 mph or faster. 15/ 36 gearing would be for hypermilers and 80mph commuters only.

You guys talking 15/36 .... you do know that std is 14/38??

use gearing commander and work out what % you are changing...
Then work out how many % improvement you've made with some engine mods?
You would need 40hp to pull that kinda gearing... and this motor has a bit over half that much.
This bike wont pull the stock gearing as it comes from the factory, and best anyone has got is +2hp with a fuel controler and full exhaust. (23-25 hp)

Let me go through this one more time since this is a foreign concept to a canyon racer type. I have gone up 1 to 15T on the front and like it for general riding at 70 mph 115 kph. As I have said repeatedly, 15T and a 36T rear will be only for hypermilers, or for commuters who average 80 mph/ 130kmh. This takes the 6,000 rpm power/ efficiency band to 68 mph/ 110 kph. Perfect. If 6th gear won't "pull", that is what all the other gears are for. The low 1st gear this bike has is still low enough not to stall on take off with this long gearing. Top speed on an otherwise stock bike will go up 1 or 2 mph with the longer gearing not down, since it is bringing the rpm back down closer to peak power at that speed. Should "pull" 95 mph 152 kph at 8,350 rpm in 6th and hit 92 in 5th at 9,400. The only trade off is a slower 0-100kph time due to the slower pull in 1st and the wider gear spacing.

The 36T steel rear sprockets will end up costing me about 7,800THB for 5. $50 each to import to the US but it seems we don't have any better option to get steel as they are never made in small quantities. I may just end up trying aluminum to see how long it lasts.
.
The 15T front sprockets will cost me about 7,000THB for 10 which is $23 each. I would have to get another $10 per order for shipping and handling once I get them.
