i know i have seen a couple comments about this kit under the hid lighting thread. they were a great price and i purchased them. as i've heard the kit doesn't come with intructions, and it didnt. i haven't had a chance to take my bike apart yet, but just by looking at it i'm some what confused with all the plug ins. so has anyone done the install, know where a wiring diagram is, or just some tips before i try and take everything apart?

I ordered a kit off ebay for $20 (free shipping). It also came with no instruction. I just did a search on "motorcycle HID wiring diagram".

I think this is for a HID kit with angel eye so ignore that part. For the part on hi/lo, I hooked up the 2 wires to m-disconnects and inserted them into the headlight plug and taped them up with electrical tape. Don't remember which is which though. try them out one by one and you will figure out which is hi and which is lo.

It will be a fun project. Set aside an hour or 2

HID Connection

DDM has a pretty extensive instruction database. Go to support and then downloads and look for the h4hilowinstall pdf. I tried to place it here but the file is too large. One change I made to the installation is that I connected the hi/low feed to the actual lighting connection and not to the two wires from the DDM unt. For some reason these wires only gave out about 10.5 volts and it wasn't enough to operate the hi/low collar. If my memory is correct, the red wire is connected to the blue wire(12v) in the connection and the black to the green (ground).

So does the large break out box and wiring harness still do anything at that point or could we get rid of all the extra wiring and bulky box and just wire up the ballast and high/ low solenoid directly to the stock bulb socket without going back to the battery?

The unit that DDM send me had a wiring harness that could be used for a two bulb system and I just cut off the extra wires. I did wire directly to the battery, however. There is a good reason for this but don't remember exactly why.

i got the 5000K hi/lo H4 kit for Christmas. Here's what mine looks like after installation. I believe the kit needs to be wired to the battery simply because where else is it gonna get power from? the stock wiring harness for the headlamp wouldn't supply enough for both the igniter and ballast. kind of like how a sound system in a car is usually directly connected to the battery.

You're gonna need to go to the battery, just use some ring terminals, I'd be really surprised if your kit didn't come with them....
