My girlfriend and I took our first road trip on the CBR 250 this weekend to Asheville, NC from Chattanooga, Tn. The bike did great considering this is not what it's designed for. I'm 57, she's 47. Are we tired and a little sore? Sure, but it was a beautiful weekend and a good time was had by all. The bike's primary use is a commuter (2500 miles per month). I've owned other bikes, but this is by far the best "bang for the buck" out there. No "buyers remorse" here. Also, thanks for this site. Any others out there in the southeast Tennessee area?

Oh, one could disagree with a couple statements in there... it was designed to be a motorcycle, and road trips are something motorcycles do. :)

Sounds like you guys had good fun, and got kickass MPGs doing it.

Seems I've seen a few TN riders on the forum, you might edit->advanced->edit title and throw TN into the title there, might help bring a few out of the woodwork.

Did you get any good pics from the trip you'd share?

Nice! I started doing trips on this bike and couldn't stop after my trip to Georgia in the spring. Ended up going cross-country(with a passenger til California:eek:)

It's really an amazing bike for what it's worth.

Just curious as to what you guys consider a long trip.

I put about 200 miles on the bike last weekend, but I didn't really go anywhere in particular. I'm 45 and admit to being a bit sore on Sunday night. :D

Some of my weekend was city riding and some was rural routes. This is my first bike so I don't have anything to compare it to, but I am having a ball!

600 Miles in 3.5 weeks is pretty good for a rookie that has to cage to and from work I imagine.

As TX mentioned Phil, pics would be great if you have taken any from your trip.

For me personally a long trip takes more than a day to do and 400+ miles a day 2up or 650+ miles myself.
On my last trip we were doing 650+ for three days and 400+ for two days 2-up. Return trip from Sacramento I did myself in four days(three was doable at my pace but I visited some relatives on the way). I sprinkled an iron butt in there on the second day.

13 days total.

I guess a multi-day and shorter miles per day trip would also be considered a long trip.

I have planned my first road trip on my '12 cbr250r red/silver for mid oct in the same area, Asheville NC / Blueridge Parkway. This is some of the MOST BEAUTIFUL countryside in America especially in the fall with the temp cooling and the leaves changing color! I take this trip just about every fall on my touring bike (06 Katana) but this year im taking my babygirl. Anybody in NC,SC,TN, should make it a point to cruise the Blueridge Parkway in the fall it is AMAZING!

I went on a ride Sunday with no destination and ended up going through mount airy and pipers gap road up to blue ridge an rode blue ridge back down through nc and back home. It was a great ride I will be going back in the fall for leaves changing and what not. Hell I'll probably be back before then.

Took my first little "road trip" on my brand new toy this weekend also. Did a 250 mile loop through the Tx hill country from NE San Antonio over to Medina lake to Bandera to Kerrville to Fredericksburg to Johnson City and back to home. Finished off the free tank of gas I got when purchased last week. First 147 miles on 1.9 gallons = 77mpg!! This bike is a blast to ride on back country roads!! I was impressed at how easily it cruises at 65-70 when you have to do a highway stretch. I will put many miles on it all over south Tx in the near future. :D

Wow. I can't see 650 miles a day. I guess time will tell.

Anything more than 500 a day is pushing it for me. Do-able, but not as enjoyable. I ride to enjoy, and fatigue is an evil bitch that rears her head in a split second with little notice. I try to avoid fatigue-induced incidents as much as possible.

Sounds fun man! I'm from middle TN. Head North on 111 and eventually you'll hit Cookeville. It's around 100 miles from Chattanooga. I had to drive down there to pick mine up. Southern Honda Powersports was having a ridiculous sale. (Well, not as ridiculous as their last one...3k sticker price!!)
