Fourteen Days In hands for a Solo Ride to North India

There's nothing great about the ride or anything to brag about & I believe this can be done by anyone. So it all started about 4th week of August - an itch to ride somewhere, somewhere long, very long.

And the reason for the itch - looking into a little background sometimes during 3rd week June when I got hold of my C250R & having completed the K figure in 2 days, I'd to leave the bike at ASC for a week; reason - engine seizure (http://www.cbr250.net/forum/cbr250-...0r-strands-middle-nowhere-did-happen-you.html); Anyway Honda replaced the entire engine under warranty & a week later after that, I'd to be away from the country on job assignment without an access to any automobile. So naturally when I came back, I wanted to ride very badly.

Had about a week +2 comp off & applied leave for 3 days totally making solid 14 days; I could do the routine South of India or Kerala, but, since I haven't explored much of North, I thought this would serve a good opportunity. Since I'd good friends at Pune (North of India), I thought, I could meet them & then take it from there.

Thanking my work schedule, it took another week of postponement & I started my journey precise on Sep 3rd;

Day 1 - Ride from Chennai to Pune, covered about 1172 Kms in 15 odd hours; Started at 2:09 AM & reached Pune (Tunnel two after getting lost ) was around 17:00; included only about 5-6 fuel breaks + 45 min BFast break at Tumkur.

Immensefully I need to Thank my friends from my bottom of my heart to Mr Vishwas ji; without him, Pune trip would've been absolutely useless. Its only because of him, another friend Satyen & the entire gang of friends in Pune that we met at Motocafe (India's first Motorcycle themed cafe), today, is an evergreen memorable day in my life.

Some pics enroute...

Had BFast here...

Here's the route taken on day 1...distance approx 1172 Kms

i'm glad to see this thread bumped.... it is one of my favourites on this forum.

A Trip Report section would be nice to see one day. A few of the forum members have done some interesting trips, but they are hidden away in General Discussion, Off Topic or whatever.
Yeah. This is a great trip report!

I'm hoping to do some touring via motorbike the next time I am in India. Probably in Kerala. That is if I can ever manage to make it out there in the near future.

A trip report section would be great.

Thank you Michael :) If its so interesting, then I'll post another recent trip of ours where we kept riding & riding 3 days through some of beautiful part of South for nearly 1700 Km

etiainen - You want Kerala? I'll post some of them today; that's where we did our trip during Apr 28 to Apr 30.
Where were you in Kerala?
My roots are from Kerala & I love touring in Kerala, Tamilnadu & Karnataka, this is in addition to Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Sikkim, Assam & Himachal Pradesh.
Such an awesome trip!!

Right now the only long distance I've travelled is to and fro from Chennai-Bangalore. (360 + 360 odd km's)
Travelling on the CBR is such a delight! I would love to go on a longer trip!
Till now my longest trip is completing the GQ; 5890 Kms in 5 days, 19 hours & 19 minutes :D
i did a Southern Tour in India when i was a backpacker there with my bike which i rented for 6 months some years ago! - at that time not many options in India in terms of reliability for a long road trip.
Started from 'Goa' to seaside 'Karnataka' and 'Kerala' then 'Kanyakumari' (the Sothern tip of India where yo can see sunset and sunrise from/to sea from the same point) then to 'Madurai', 'Pondicherry', 'Chennai'. I visited nearly all the major beaches and historical sights.
From 'Chennai' to 'Hyderabad', 'Hampi' - biggest chunk of ruins i have ever seen after Ephesus in Turkey - then 'Goa' again which was around one month trip with around 6000 km back and forth. Of course many more cities and places on the road which i did not state here including mountain trails and waterfalls in teh really really middle of nowhere. Any problems with the bike and you are stuck there or possible die!!! Wow excited again.
I will do the same trip again next year as i have plans to go to India again for another month or two as a tourist. I am checking now how to send my cbr 250 there now from Thailand.
India is a good country for touring you guys there are very lucky - although i live in Thailand, i like to ride in India then Thailand in the middle of nowhere, no light no civilization from morning to evening and eat 'baji' or 'idli sambar' on the road on banana leaves. Of course, beware, trucks start to operate after sunset in India and it is like hell to drive among them during the night.
Great xp man. highly recommended!

Fantastic; shows you're greatly experienced :) Ride to Rajasthan next time; you'll love that place. Not much troubles on road, very friendly people & you can also experience the world's second most haunted place ;)

Keep 'em coming!
The T'Log is over :D Lol

aargeeji, i lived in India and Nepal for 1,5 years total back and forth. i love there, my favourite country to be where i feel free the most i do not know why?
I know what you mean about money works there. As a foreigner there, i have been stopped or tired to be stopped by police. The rule for foreigners there: never stop for police, just run as they never bother to follow.:D
I will be there around new year and i will pm you if i will pass near you, why not?
I rode in Rajasthan around Ajmer and Pushkar. I like Rajasthani people and have good friends in Pushkar. And i rode up North in the mountains for a while as well but not a lot. If not South again this time, then i want to tour in Rajasthan and up North. Hope i can get a longer holiday.
I am experienced indeed to live and ride in India after 15,000 km in total in 1.5 years. I like there man.
Thanks for your report, you made me excited and strengthen my decision for going to India to ride again. bom bole nat:D

Nepal is awesome country; heard very nice reviews from ppl who visited there. Anyday I can vouch, 100 times better in terms of corruption than India

Well, I'm in South, Chennai; are you making a trip to South?

Wow!!! Yes, RJ people are very very nice; something very interesting to share - here in South, when someone welcomes you friendly, then it means, he's looking to take you for a ride. So when I was at Udaipur, people were friendly & due to my cultural difference I was staying cautious. But then they proved me wrong & I was quite embarrassed & admitted to them about me being cautious all the time due to my experience from where I hail from.

Thanks for your report, you made me excited and strengthen my decision for going to India to ride again. bom bole nat:D
I'm glad about it :)
Once again, feel free to let me know if you need any help in terms of accommodation or route itinerary that you'll need for the trip; I can help you on those terms & I don't need to educate you on how to bargain for deals :D when renting out motorcycles.

PS - Did you go through my other T'Log shaping up on Golden Quadrilateral ride?
