For the past 7 months, I have been not riding much.. actually still on the same tank of gas and about 1/4 tank left.

Should I put some gas additive in my tank? Will the old fuel cause any harm for long period of time. I try to at least start the bike once every two weeks.

The reason that I have not been riding has been due yo my work. I been flying around thru the country on weekends for work so I only get to ride few times that I had. Work is getting more busy so I think it will get worst before it settles out.

Thanks in advance.

Use Stabil fuel stabilizer, about 1 oz. to a full tank. I'd strongly recommend keeping your tank full when the bike is sitting for extended periods, to help keep evaporation and moisture condensation to a minimum. Unfortunately, today's unleaded gasolines have a fairly short shelf life.

Also keeping the battery maintained on a Battery Tender would be a real good idea.

The other think to keep in mind is tire pressure. if you have your bike on stands then you are good but if not you should spin the tires every week or so to keep them from sitting in the same place.

Star Tron fuel stabilizer / additive is supposed to cure (or neutralize) all the ethanol issues.
If you fill the tank with fresh gas and 3oz or so of additive it should all mix together and be OK.
A long hard drive would be even better.

Cheers,
Rick

PS: 3 ounces is probably more than you need, but there is no danger of overdosing according to the manufacturer.

Hi, not sure what type fuel you're using but you might find this link useful.

I have a few bikes and always have at least a couple in storage, I use a non-ethanol fuel and Stabil. Fuel injected bikes don't have near the storage issues the older bikes have. New bikes all, as far as I know, have AGM batteries which also store a lot better than the older batteries.

Is your gas additive safe with E10 fuel?

I have been alternating betwen Sta-bil and Seafoam on every tank because I never know if the bike will be sitting for an extended period. So far it hasn't set for more than two weeks. Maybe I will just stick with the Sta-bil from now on...
