Sounds like you are very lucky to have such generous parents... on the other hand, perhaps they already know that the odds are in their favor. :p
Grammar, spelling, and sentence construction were not my favorite subjects either, and I still seem to have trouble making my written words understandable.

Good luck!

chill dudes...why the hate?
spelling isn't wat i care abot when i come on here. why would you?
If I didn't care about correct spelling in my posts, I wouldn't really expect others to find what I have to say as credible.

At some point in your life, you will find that being perceived as credible does matter... a lot... particularly with things like earning potential, career advancement.

Why not use a forum like this one to work on developing these valuable skills?

When I was in my late teens, I was working my ass off at various part time jobs to save up and pay for my first motorcycle myself... and good grades in school were expected, not rewarded with "carrots".

You're just coming across as a spoiled little brat with this last post... sadly, like so many other kids today, it's not your fault you were born to obviously clueless parents. It is within you're ability to change that though... you just need to put on your big boy pants, stop whining, and grow the f**k up.

To be fair, it's not just clueless parents who are to blame, but an educational system that is obviously failing on so many levels to give kids today a proper education... of course schools are fighting a loosing battle with kids who, like our friend here, just don't give a f**k. As someone who pays taxes that go towards funding education, I do happen to give a f**k.

I don't even know if the educators are to blame. I know a good number of them who have genuine concerns and an idealistic curriculum, but they have to jump so many hurdles. I've always been fascinated by Heinlein's position that social workers and child psychologists are the bane of social development; they prefer to enact positive feedback systems of child coddling rather than good old-fashioned disciplinary methods used by, for example, east Asian cultures, where parents aren't afraid to give their kids a good kick in the ass when necessary.

I go back to the Philippines quite often, where old-fashioned methods are used on the children on every level society, not just the parents. The peripheral family members, nanny(s), the tricycle driver, the teachers, and the clergy all have an active hand in rearing every child. It's fascinating how more disciplined Filipino children are compared to their American counterparts; this includes their Filipino-American counterparts. They may not be as intellectually advanced, as culturally sophisticated or as technically versed, but they tend to have greater awareness of social order, proper decorum, and self control.
