helmet hook

greetings everyone. just curious how one goes about using the helmet hook that is under the passenger seat.

i retrieved the wire from the tool kit bag. but how do you use it? i mean i can see you loop the wire thru the "D-rings" on the helmet.
but the wire has a thick rubber sleeve on it. do you have to remove this?
this sleeve is pretty thick when its looped thru the D-ring which makes it double thickness and hard to close the seat.

Rubber-ized part of wire goes through D. Non-rubber loops go around the hook under the seat. Seat closes. Magic happens! :)
You forgot the part where you have to push real hard on the seat cowl a few times to get the thing to close.
Auffit can tell you EXACTLY how you need to do it. Let's see if he takes the time to tell ya
How do you open the seat........
It's a mongrel of a thing to use actually...
There is a hook on the left hand side under the rear seat (looking from behind the bike).

Getting the rear seat to close takes timing, positioning and a bit of muscle.
Too much hassle. Leave the helmet on the seat. Nobody tries to rip off bikers. Generally bad for the health.

My made in Thailand bike has no hook under the seat, just a horizontal tab. Also, yes, its hard to close the seat. A poor design feature; but Honda avoided passing on costs to us for things like a helmet lock, high-beam flasher, emergency signals, cargo net rails, etc.. Add all that stuff and its not a $5k bike with ABS anymore.
I carry a short cable and lock my helmet to my rack or frame.
I put it on my dick , just don't pull too tight.........

Hate the wire, got one of these, here:

I usually just slide my helmet strap onto the grab handles if I'm just running into the store or something. If I'm going to be inside for awhile, I'll use the hook, but usually I don't worry about it too much.
Got this today, I leave both ends of the wire looped thru the holder under the seat and have this on the end of the wire..when i take off my helmet I just pop the seat, pull the wire outside, pass one end of the locking carabiner thru the D ring on my helmet and spin the combination, close the seat..it is very small but sturdily made, maybe a 2 1/2" to 3" inches tall and costs less than $5 on Amazon.com

That's the same set up I use. Works fine. Cheap too.

I like to use the opportunity to work out my triceps :D
