Hello,

I ordered my helmet on-line and when it arrived nothing seemed wrong with it. Then, a couple weeks in a noticed my visor wouldn't close properly. I finally realized that the 'folded' trim at the top of the opening of the helmet, was sticking 'outward?' We tried using different glues and such to make the rubber flaps stick together to be flesh with the helmet but nothing holds. My visor just keeps getting stuck and it's probably making it worse.

What's a good way to fix this?

It's a top quality helmet from Zox. I wouldn't cheap out. Ordered it from Honda Powersports. They had two big books of helmets I could order. I would never pick a cheap helmet.
Meant no offense. I have just seen many cases of <$50 helmets that look great and function perfectly for a few weeks but then start to deteriorate quickly, often with problems just like you showed. Did you try contacting the manufacturer? I'm sure it's still under warranty...

I'm not looking to buy a new helmet. I'm looking for a fix. It's not the biggest deal in the world. More of an annoyance. I just want to know if there is any product that should work to pin it back.

adhesives must at least follow manufacturers recommendations..
ie, if it says to compress the repair under weight for x hours
then thats what you must do.. it it says to thoroughly clean
mating surfaces, thats what you must do..
must use adhesive specific to those surfaces..

if dislodged parts have been repeatedly pulled back
from the helmet [as in your demo] then the material
will likely have been distorted towards that shape,
thus may resist adhesive hold, thus may need
semi-permanent solid clip to hold it down
while adhesive cures, or, leave them attached..

not easy to determine exactly what has caused this
[thus what will do it again] from an external shot..
if you cant remedy the malfunction on the spot
then someone capable will need to do it..

first response then as matao suggested would be
to contact the seller for advice, repair or replacement..

otherwise probably any competent shoe repairman
could use adhesive or trim it plus overlay and/or
drive a few flat head screws into it [etc]..

the essential point tho must be what caused it..
if you dont know this, its likely to happen again..

Have you removed the shield from the helmet and cleaned _everything_ thoroughly and reassembled the helmet and shield? It sounds like the pivot mechanism is bound up a bit.

Once clean and reassembled, you should be able to see just what is causing the problem and figure out if you can fix it yourself.

Yes, everything is off the helmet. I just put the visor on for demonstration. The rubber just isn't folded back like it should be. I was thinking of putting some superglue between the two rubber lips and clamping them down with a mini clamp but not sure what substance is best to use. I have some superglue extreme which is supposed to work on everything in every possible weather condition.

More crazy questions perhaps but, is the lining snapped into all the appropriate places? Lining in my helmet has specific places to snap into to prevent the lining from moving. Perhaps the lining for your helmet is slipping, or too big and may be for a larger helmet? I've owned 3 different helmets and encounter no issues such as this. Is it odd to have to glue your helmet liner in place post purchase? My helmet is Not cheap, $800.00 . Fits like a comfy glove and with no protruding liners.

mate i cant get a good sense of what is actually malfunctioning here..
have you compared it side by side with another of the same helmet
without the malfunction[?] if its not immediately obvious the fix
try taking it to the dealership you got the bike from or who service it
and ask their opinion.. the people who sell helmets daily will have
some valid opinion as to cause and as to repair.. just ask..

otherwise, if its the contact between outer shell and front opening space
then try cleaning both surfaces thoroughly incl of old adhesive
then apply new adhesive designed for those surfaces as directed
incl clamping as suggested for the time suggested..

Eskimo technology.

I have used a variety of glues, with a range of outcomes, on several problems.

I think that a thin, really thin, film of Gorilla Glue would do the job,
but keep it thin, because a thick film of this stuff makes bubbles.
It still holds like iron, but the bubbles distort the result, and you
would still be hitting the visor. Clamp this TIGHT at many places.

Imagine what an eskimo would do, either instead or as well.

Light a candle. Grasp a needle with pliers and hold it in the flame.
Pierce the helmet through the loose material, the shell, and the liner inside.
Twist the needle while it cools, so it won't stick to what it has pierced.
Do this at several places, an even number, so you can sew it tight.
Do not use walrus hide; instead, use monofilament fishing line,
and sew from in to out to in, then make a knot and cut the line.
Keep using pairs of holes until you have completed the job.

If you really want to use walrus hide, that is your business. I will hold
your beer while you sneak out on the ice and harpoon the walrus.

Never heard of them either so I looked on line. Their top selling helmet which is full faced is only $159.00 dollars. Only time I'd spend that little on a helmet is a top well known brand on sale. Top quality may cost more $$, but peace of mind is worth it as well.

Zox is a very low quality helmet line. Started in the off road line more for kids I believe. I've seen a lot of these helmets and would trust them to much. You can cheap out on gear but never do it on a helmet. And remember any helmet that has seen any impact greater than a 4ft drop onto a hard surface should be disguarded and get a new one

When I disassemble helmets to paint them custom, I reassemble the rubber edge moulding with CA adhesive. It's basically Superglue. ZAP! is a popular brand. Local hobby shops have it in stock. Be careful, and get quickset but not the 5 second stuff unless you have a steady hand.... :)
