Took apart the front sprocket cover to get the crud out, but noticed a strange little thing. The front sprocket cover has a metal plate riveted by plastic. Now in mine the upper part of the rivet is intact, the lower part is cut, is it supposed to be that way or both the sides are supposed to be riveted?

Attaching a picture for reference (Google).

The one marked with two circles is properly riveted, the one in the above moves freely, is it supposed to be that way or both are supposed to be riveted, can anyone confirm, please. For now I've glued it, but if anyone can help me with it, that'd be real helpful.

Cheers!

I purposely cut my plastic nubs to allow for slightly more room for a 15T sprocket. The bolts will still locate metal plate.
Thank you.But before cutting the nubs as you've mentioned, were they riveted on both ends or only one side?

Cheers!
