Hello everyone, been checking out the site for a few days. And I think I am sold. I want a motorcycle for commuting to school 40mi one way. I signed up for the california motorcycle class next month, and will probably buy a 250R.

I think I want red, but I gotta decide if I want ABS or non LOL.

I'm live in Burbank and my school is in Moorpark in Ventura county. I will be calling around the LA areas to see if they have any bikes in stock (im sure somebody will).

I had a lot of friends with bikes when I was in the Navy, but I want one to save gas and save wear and tear on my car. If I get a bike payment for 125, and insurance for the year will be less than what I pay a month to drive my stupid car.

I'm just going to do a search on cycle trader and call up some shops. Plenty of places within 25-50 miles of me. Its a new bike so I dont have to worry too much about shopping around. I'm not in a rush either... I still don't have my motorcycle license yet!

I was able to get mine from Honda of North Hollywood. They should only be about 15 minutes from Burbank (Near Lankershim and Burbank Blvd). They are a good size dealer. I worked with Larry - maybe he can help you out. Good luck!!

I wont be buying a bicycle from North Hollywood, its a small place. I was walking around looking at the bikes for like 20mins yest, not one person said hello or not even a word to me...not even a service guy.

I made some calls this morning, seems like LA area shops will be getting ABS models in next month. Found an online price for 4149 for an ABS, so I will be going there to hold them to the price!

Maybe I can get an extra discount if I tell them I will blast their name on this site for some advertising! LOL

I cant believe I am going to buy a motorcycle, all that is required is a 500 dollar deposit, and i'm in there like swimwear

Remember there is tax, freight, assembly and licensing fees which adds another $1200. Extended warranty and gap insurance is another $800. And unless your paying cash, lenders require insurance before you leave the lot.

I know CalCoast motorsports in Ventura had a red one last time I was down there. You also Got to assume that your not really going to catch a deal since there is such a high demand for that bike at this time.

Good Luck and keep us all posted.

oh yeah? I live in Burbank going to school, but I rented out my house in Oxnard off 5th about 10mins from there. I will call them tomorrow. Do you know if it was ABS?

That place I was going to go to must have been a misprint or something, they called me back and said they aren't getting any ABS now or anytime soon. yea, ok...

I will put a $500 deposit on an ABS red model in Glendale. Should be getting in September sometime. They quoted me $4995 out the door for a non ABS, I figure with my deposit, my bike should cost me that. By the way, they have 2 of them on the showroom- one black, one red. The black one was just serviced and the guy started it for me- very light pur sound. Not a high pitch mosquito sound.

I bought a cbr600rr and a yamaha stryker 1300 this year (hooray for putting the wife to work), and they both wanted to shoo me out the door with nothing but a signature.

The guy at the Yammy dealership told me that 90% of the people applying for loans for motorcycles right now get denied outright, so they get all excited when someone with good credit comes in...

nice thats good to know. I just submitted a credit app to honda cause they have a 2.99% special going on. I just looked at my score its 660 ( I have a lot of bills that I was going to pay off next month) but hopefully I can score a loan. I have 5k cash in savings, but I dont want to drop it all on a bike. I have school starting next month, and cant wait for this debt fiasco to get through congress so I can get my pell grant and pay for books.
