So our little CBR manual tells us that the tire pressure should be 29 psi front and rear (unless your a fatass, then its more). So, do I keep that psi for any make of tire I put on the bike? Just wondering cause I took in a new set of tires to the dealer and they installed them with 35psi!

Keep the right PSI for your weight and the load on the bike, regardless of tire make, yes.

Many dealers will jack the air pressure up to within 5psi of the sidewall pressure (max pressure) for the tire, as that gives the best gas mileage, but it won't corner as well, it will hydroplane a lot easier, and it will lose traction easier in general.

Agreed. The only caveat is that if that if the construction of a replacement tire is different than the original, you may not get the same results. Still, start with the owner's manual recommendation, unless there is a good reason not to.

sounds like some "helper" (hope it wasnt the mechanic??!!) at your dealer aired up your tires mistakenly thinking the psi number on the sidewall was the recommended air pressure when it fact it is as stated above.the maximum pressure the tire can safely hold..not the pressure your supposed to fill it to..its the same thing with your car tires...go with the pressure stated in the manual or on the sticker in the door well

I have just had my first service and they increased the pressure in the rear to 34psi and the front to 32psi, the guy said to keep the pressure in the rear 2psi above the front and 2psi under the rating on the tyres (36psi)............so who knows?

It all depends what pressure you getting them too when hot (+10%)

But stick to the recommended 29f/30r as a baseline.
