After way too much obsessive online and in-dealer research, I rode my new red, white, and blue CBR250RA home this afternoon. I think it's going to be a great little bike!

I was a 5 day/week rain or shine commuter on a BMW F650 for about 5 years, and originally I was certain that I'd end up with another dual-sport. That was my only other bike, and the idea of a similar one just felt right. I was looking at everything from used XT225's up to V-stroms. After looking at my use case of a 100% on-road commuting, occasional errands and in-town fun bike, the actual street bike (and by far the least expensive bike with ABS as a bonus) just made more sense.

It feels great to be twisting a throttle again after about 6 years, and I can already tell that this is going to be a great and helpful community.

Special thanks to Sarge and TX_Dj for their input on the bike and local dealers!

Right on, Michael! I know you're going to love it.

It will take a bit more coaxing to crank the MPH out on the higher end of the spectrum than the old F650GS, but I know you'll be happier with it than the XT225.

Maybe after I get the XT225 back in roadworthy condition again, I'll let you take it for a spin. I think that would seal the deal for you that you made the right choice, when it came down to the two of them.

Glad to read that you took the plunge. I, too, was considering other options. I had it narrowed down to a Yamaha FZ8, a ninja 650, or the CBR250RA. Finally decided with the CBR because its a great bike for getting back into riding (I haven't ridden in over 10 years) and it gets great gas mileage for commuting.

So now there are at least three of us in Plano (at least on this forum, and I think I saw a fourth one time). We ought to go for a ride one of these days.
