I've used LL's on other bikes. The idea is to take a turbulent stream of air off the top of the windshield and both smooth out the airstream and move it a little higher. On my stock 250R, the wind hits me just below the collarbone. At over 60mph, that starts buffeting the base of my helmet (noisy) and lifting the helmet (annoying and tiring).

So, I got a Laminar Lip ($84). It works perfect. A smooth airstream now hits just above the helmet chinbar. It's quieter and the helmet stays rock-steady. It's now comfortable going 70+. Highly recommended...

How does hold on to your windscreen? Suction cups? Secure?
Industrial-strength Velcro. If that isn't holding, then the company will send free plastic screws, but you'd have to drill holes in your screen.

I've never had the Velcro come loose on my other bikes with these screens. You have to be meticulous about installing it properly.

I've had the same experience, those velcro discs are still stuck to my 2003 Bandit that I sold to a friend.

I just got my CBR and am very happy to hear that there is a Laminar Lip available! Thanks for the pic ContraCBR.

My understanding was that turbulent flow produces less drag on the bike but just my two cents
Depends on why it's turbulent and at what scale. Reynolds numbers, coefficient of drag, frontal area and all that...hours and hours of experiment and computation might lead to an answer, but probably not. One thing is certain...words will not lead to an answer.

I could care less. I don't care if a bike gets 200mpg. If it's not fun to ride, it's not in my garage.

FWIW...my first six tanks of gas averaged 66mpg. I do nothing while riding to improve mileage. I didn't spend five grand on a new motorcycle to nitpick a couple dollars a month in operating costs.

Good addition! I see it more usefull when the main comute is highway.
My riding is recreational, for the most part. Backroads, with just enough freeway to get to different backroads. The occasional ride into San Francisco for a meeting or a Giants game. When on the freeway even briefly, this screen helps immensely. I have a 9-hour ride coming up in two weeks -- over the Sierras and back with a couple other CBR250R owners.

Thanks for reminding me of Laminar. Used them on a Triumph Speed4 and a Guzzi V11 Ballabio and they worked great. Just ordered a smoke one for the CBR. was not looking forward to taking the top fairing apart just to install a different windscreen. Like you said the 3M adhesive backed Velcro buttons are strong and no holes to drill!
