Based on reading some forums, I purchased a Liatt STX Road neck brace (Street | Leatt® - Engineered for Performance. Protective Sports Gear). For those of us who are serious about minimizing risk (including through training, defensive driving, keeping speeds down, practice, practice, practice and always wearing ATGATT), it's something to consider.

It is designed to restrain your neck movements in the event of a crash without affecting your head's movements to see around you. The brace takes some adjusting to get the right fit but then only a moment or two to put on. It stows pretty easily in a saddlebag. Once on, you hardly notice it. Yes, it is another thing to wear and some may think it is excessive but, then again, I wear a hi-res jacket and helmet and I get some grief for that. If this might have even a small chance of saving my neck, I'm happy to wear it.

I got a great deal at ridersdiscount.com. The item is not on their web site and they won't advertise the price so you need to email them about it.

Happy to answer any questions.

I have been wanting to try one of these braces for a while now. My hope is that someday tech like this and airbags will be integrated (or at least designed to add such devices as plug and play) better into bikes and gear.

Thanks for the review.

Very cool! I run with a padded neck brace on my go kart but wonder if this would be an even better setup that could be run for both the kart and the bike.
