New owner looking to add a luggage rack for briefcase on morning commute. It's looking like the Givi rack is my only option. Any other sugesstions? And where to buy, what are the favorite mail order places for the CBR?

Thanks,

If there's another option, I haven't found it yet, either. I purchased the Givi SR1103 rack on eBay over the summer. A link to the seller's eBay store follows:

eBay My World - 2nd-gear

No problems at all with the seller. They shipped the rack promptly and it was a fairly easy installation. There doesn't appear to be a current eBay listing for the same item from this seller, but you might contact them directly and see if they have any in stock.

Congratulations on being a new CBR250R owner!

I just use a cargo net and strap my briefcase to the passenger seat. Alternatively, my wife has a cortech tail bag for commuting and I have seen tail and tank bags that could double as backpacks or briefcases. We have thus far avoided the need to purchase a luggage rack

Another option, might be to just fabricate your own type of mount, similar to what Sendler did in this thread:

Or, as suggested earlier, a cargo net on the seat can work equally as well. Oh, and not sure if a brief case would fit, but there are lots of side bag options, here are two of my favorites:
Cycle Case Rider Saddlebags $69.99! In stock NOW! :: MSRP: $76.99
or
MotoCentric Mototrek Sport Saddlebags - Street Bike - Motorcycle Superstore

Two thumbs up to Desert Dweller! I recieved the Givi rack yesterday (super fast shipping) and it was in perfect condition with all mounting parts and directions. Only took a couple of minutes to mount and now I'm ready to commute to work with the my briefcase.

I think this may be why this site is so popular, a great bunch of folks hang out here.

I have seen on the gtautobike.com site in Thailand a heavy duty rack The HR3.
See http://www.gtautobike.com/product.detail_802663_en_4884429

Has anybody tried this? I have tried to order from them but cannot get a response via email let alone the goods and they will not allow shipment to India or take credit cards.

However, this looks a perfect set up, it is also listed on the givi.com.my site.

Generic steel luggage rack review

I purchased this luggage rack from Neihaus Cycle Sales in the U.S, part number CBR250R-RACK.

It's a cheap but sturdy luggage rack. Build quality is solid but finish is poor. Welds are strong but not neat. Little effort made to de-burr or smooth surfaces. Paint is thin and my unit arrived with some light scratches and worn paint. Didn't bother me; I hit it with some rattle-can epoxy enamel, baked it on at low temp in the kitchen oven and installed it. After all...it's just a luggage rack.

The bolt hole alignment was slightly off but with some wiggling and coaxing, I got the bolts started. The pillion is a bit harder to close; requires a pretty firm push now.

When not in use as a luggage rack, I find it perfect as a handle for handling the bike and putting it up/down on a rear stand.

All in all, a strong, solid, and cost-effective luggage rack for the CBR250R.
