My first drop and injury

I haven't been around for the last week or so because I drop my bike while avoiding an accident. The good news is, the bike is fine. Just a few scratches on the exhaust and minor scratches on the mirror housing.

I was barely moving. I was going about 5mph... I just started moving when a guy pulled into the lean I was about to turn out onto. I overacted and pulled the brake hard. The bike immediately tipped over. Instinctively, I reached out with my right had to brace myself. Even though my hand landed in the grass, it was enough to break my arm pretty bad.

I had surgery yesterday to put a plate in it so now I'm home recovering and wigged out on pain pills. I'll make a full recovery and should be riding again in about 4 weeks or so.

Here's a picture of the lovely plate in my arm. At least it looks kind of cool. :p

Dude, sorry to hear that. I hope you feel better and glad to hear you still have a ride.
Sorry to hear that. Glad you weren't hurt bad. Did they stop to help? Hope you mend well. What part of cajun country are you in? I have relatives all over from there.
w0rM, so sorry about your arm. Eat a lot of good food and rest well.
Best wishes
That's pretty weak. I hope it's speedy recovery!

Nope, they just rolled on. I doubt they even noticed.

I'm in Baton Rouge here... home of the worst drivers in America!
I hate that for you wOrM...especially that it happened simply because you pretty much just fell over...drink more milk dude..lol
That stinks. I suppose it could have been worse for you and the bike. Get well soon and get back out there!
jeez brother....Glad you are OK, well other then broken arm of course..
sweet plate though..
Ouch mate, bone pain goes right thru you.

The plate will make recovery quick though.
best wishes on the recovery.
drink more milk dude..lol
lmao... good call. It's hard not to feel like a total retard, falling off my bike and breaking my arm.

Thanks guys. I really appreciate the well wishes.
And just remember those painkillers um.... 'block things up' after a week or so lol.. might want to have a diet that helps in that regard. :O
Helmet

Very sorry to hear that you are hurt. Get well soon. It can happen at any time. As much as we all love the magic of it and like to dismiss it, riding is a dangerous game. Always-Always wear a helmet. Even if only rolling around a pit or parking lot. Some of the hardest crashes happen at barely rolling speed when the bike lowsides on something slippery and whips you onto the ground. Arms they can fix really good. Brain injuries can be another story.
**** w0rM! glad ur ok and hope for a speedy recovery for you. Glad you are in good spirits! :)

What happened to the dude that hit you? I hope everything is being covered by that guy...
Sorry to hear this. Glad it didn't turn out worse. Speedy recovery !

Now, isn't it a motorcycle nut, that after an incident the first thing that they mention is 'what happened to my bike' (instead of what happened to me).
Get well soon! Glad to hear you will be back riding again.

Thanks man...

It's so true! I'm glad I was fully geared up at the time. A second later and I might have taken a direct hit from the car.

I actually didn't hit the guy I was avoiding so I don't think he ever saw me. I looked up after the fall to see him driving along like nothing had happened.
