My one tank trip to the Ohio Amish countryside

Yesterday I went on a 180 mile round trip ride to the Amish countryside out here in Ohio. It took about 2 hours to get to Sugar Creek from the cleveland suburbs. It was a one tank fill-up (I filled up 2 days prior to my trip and rode about 37 miles before starting my trip). The ride was pretty comfortable but the seat did get a little uncomfortable towards the end of the trip. If I go on a longer trip I will get gel bike shorts next time. It was an enjoyable ride.

It's a nice ride through the countryside through the historic town of Millersburg, and Sugarcreek,Ohio. There are some nice scenic country roads with a few twisties in Sugarcreek. I stopped and ate at an Amish restaurant, deliscious food. In the same parking lot as the restaurant they were having a classic car show so I was able to get a chance to see some sweet classic rides. I made a video of the trip.

UPDATE:

I filled up with gas a few days before I started my trip and rode about 37 miles or so. So if you take the 160 miles my trip meter read at the gas station that was on my way home from the trip plus the 37 miles I rode before I took the trip (After my initial gas fill up) that comes to 197 miles I got on one tank of gas and you divide it by 2.515 gals of gas I filled the tank up with after the trip you get exactly 78.3 mpg. I got 78.3 mpg on my last fill-up. That is 1 MPG better than Honda's estimate on it's website for this bike.

How long did the trip take? Were you sore from the ride?
It took about a couple hours to get to Sugar Creek from the suburbs of Cleveland. No soreness but I took a lil break here and there to video the trip. If I were to go on a longer trip I think I would get a pair of gel biker shorts b/c the seat did become a little bit uncomfortable towards the end of the trip, I notice it's better when I don't slouch.

All in all I enjoyed my trip and look forward to more 1 tank trips around here in NE Ohio. I appreciate this cbr250r more and more everyday and realize that it has more than of enough power for my needs. I got about 197 miles to a tank that cost me only $8.86 at $3.50 a gal for 87 octane, that's cheaper than my $19.99 meal at the Amish restaurant.

I had a blast zipping around the long scenic country roads. I didn't see one cop out there and everybody were hauling arse on their bikes. Maybe one day I'll spring for a Go Pro and get some riding shots although I'm not a big fan of riding shots, a few riding shots in my videos will help spice them up a bit and give the viewer a better appreciation of my road trips.

Dang..I don't think mine will even make to 160 on a full tank. 132 miles and only has 2 bars left. When did your gauge start blinking?
It started blinking at about 192 miles (155 on the trip meter) and no gas station was in sight so I was praying a gas station would come up lol. Luckily, I found a gast station 5 miles down the road. I filled up at 197 miles (160 miles on the trip meter) with less than 20 miles to get home. I filled the bike up with 2.515 gals of gas, so I still had 0.885 gals of gas left (Tank holds 3.4 gals).

UPDATE:

I was going by miles on my trip meter when I started my trip and not my odometer. Sorry for the confusion. I filled up with gas a few days before I started my trip and rode about 37 miles or so. So if you take 197 miles and divide it by 2.515 gals of gas I filled up with you get exactly 78.3 mpg which my Fuelly record verifies.
Thanks for sharing - looks like a nice ride - great cars !
Not sure about the song effects at the end :)
Cheers

So I guess the last gas bar starts blinking when there is only 1 gal of gas left in the tank.
Dude, over on the Gas Mileage thread you stated in your post (minutes after this post), that your last fill up was @ 78.3 mpg... according to your numbers here, 160.0 divided by 2.515 = 63.6 mpg. I get confused when it comes to fuzzy math.

Actually, 160 is what the trip meter read when I arrived at the gas station. I started the trip meter when I started my trip. I filled up a few days before going on the trip and I did about 37 miles of riding before I started my trip on Sunday. I did not start my trip on a full tank. If you take 160+37= 197 miles divided by 2.515 = 78.3 mpg, which Fuelly verifies.

Just click on my Fuelly record below. I log all of my numbers from the gas receipts and write down my mileage before I start the bike up after filling up with gas. Fuelly is accurate.
^ makes sense now with the new info.
Thanks for posting....

Seemed to be a perfect day for you. Great scenery, good weather, and a nice meal.
We all need to "get out" more.
Look forward to your next ride report.

George
