Hello Everyone,

We're proud to announce that the new site look and feel has been completed for CBR250.net! Our designers and software engineers have been hard at work on this for several months. It's designed to modernize the site, make it easier to use, and to make it more attractive to new members and guests that visit .

The forum software we use, vBulletin, by default is not designed to be friendly to the eyes or to look modern. We went down to the nuts and bolts of the forum software and templates, and have done a ground up approach. There are several things you will notice now that the new design is live.

1) The site should be significantly faster.

We have applied every modern technique to speed up page load and tested with all modern browsers. We want the forum to be extremely fast and easy to use.

2) The site will work much better in mobile and tablet views

We've started applying responsive design, and have designed and tested against android and iPhone devices, Android tablets, and iPads. If you are sitting at your desk or on your couch, or just on your phone, the site will work much better than it did before, and load fast. We are still working on improving the experience even further in the months to come, but we wanted to launch this as quickly as we could.

3) The homepage is bright, crisp and clean.

We wanted the first page users saw to look beautiful, so that when a new guest arrives and is debating whether to join CBR250.net, they see a beautiful doorway, and they walk right in.

As a forum member you can choose to use the new design (which is on by default) or you can go back to the old design. We ask that you give it a chance and see if you like it. Like anything new, it will be unfamiliar at first, but we suspect that the speed difference will make you want to use this new one. If you do decide to switch back, the link is at the bottom left of each forum page, you pull down and select the theme called "CBR250.net classic.

4) Garages will be featured on the site

You can show off your CBR, You can post pictures in your garage and share it with others. Make sure you post up some images to share with the community at the link below.

http://www.cbr250.net/forum/mygarage

5) Users will be able to register with Facebook, Twitter or Google+

6) The side bar can be hidden in your user options.

Click on my profile / user cp at the top right.

- click on edit your details on the left.
- Look for Show Sidebar on Forum Pages under Additional Information.
- Click disable and save.

7) Another new great feature is the @Mention user plugin. You can tag members by simply using the @ symbol.

8) Drag and Drop image uploader

We hope you enjoy it, and if you have any questions on the design, please let us know, feedback is appreciated.

If there are any issues you see. Post them up here and we will get them worked out.

Thanks,
-Your CBR250.net Team.

I like it MUUUCH better. It is way faster. The features and responsive design has brought it into today's tech. It is now useable on my mobile device.
Great to hear, enjoy your new home!

One really nice feature is the Recent Discussions listing over on the right side of all forum pages... no more always having to click back to the Active Topics page (unless you're looking for a thread that is less active than the 10 threads currently listed under Recent Discussions).

Personally, I think the banner at the top of the forum pages looks okay, although the photoshop images on the new banner do look a little bit ragged around the edges as compared to the sharper images of the old banner.

That said, it's a far better representation of the CBR250R in terms of the various color variants available (although the 2012 Tri-Color, and 2013 Millennium Red are missing in action ) than what the old banner is, showing only the 2011/2012 Ruby Red/Silver version*.

* Which IMHO, is the least appealing color variant among all that were offered over the three model years of production... sorry Ruby Red/Silver owners, it's just my opinion.

Ruby red is heinous! I wanted a non abs, and that was the only colour available. So i got a black abs equipped machine.

On topic: i love the new look.

I'm getting used to it. The recent discussion bar is nice and the site is really quick.
I think it could do with less statistics under a poster's avatar though. Who needs statistics on mentioned, tagged and quoted? Those are in my opinion of very little value and just clutter the space below the avatar but that's just personal taste I guess.

BTW the mark all forums read function doesn't work yet.

Great! Looks like the CBR300R site I'm more used to. I found the font too small on the old site (prob just my old(ish) eyes!) and I agree too many statistics - really who cares about that stuff, and if you do then go to their profile page and look it up there.

Recent discussions is good, i use this feature on the 300 site all the time. Overall I really like it.

Off topic: Ruby red and silver? - boring as bat $hit, what were they thinking...:D

We can remove some of those stats, pretty easy quick fix.

@CBR-250-R - can you try clearing your cache and a Log out/in to see if that clears it up?

Let me know,

And because I can post, without blocking any script, i'm pretty sure, there was a script change, on the way to the new site layout. the icons are not clickable, too.
talk to you later about browser cache on firefox

I agree on getting rid of the Mentioned, Tagged, & Quoted stats... those don't seem all that useful.

All of the other original user stats should be retained on the forum pages under the username as they have been there from the beginning of the site, and they do provide an "at a glance" indicator of how active users are on the site relative to their join date, as well as their reputation for useful posts (via the "Thanked" feature). As a Moderator I find these stats useful, and at the same time I don't have the time (or desire) to go to an individual user profile page just to see these numbers.

If only we could get all members to enter their Location, as that is useful to everyone on the site.

Somewhat related, I don't think we really need the "Like" button, as it seems pretty redundant to the "Thanks" button. And since we've had the "Thanks" feature going back to mid 2012, it obviously should remain for this site (I know the CBR300forum.com site only has the "Like" feature, but that is a newer website and has used the "Like" feature since day one).

10-4,

Requested Mentioned, Tagged, & Quoted stats to be removed.

I will request to have the "likes" removed also.

Ok, solved. I hope
blocking ajax.googleapis leads to no avatar, no hints in the 'your notifications', no clicks on smilies, no submitting of written text.
This is now connected, so that I would have to see the front adds on home, cbr250.net ?
ok .....

Anyway, page is working.

Do I really need to know, that I got mentioned, quoted, tagged?

No, I don't. I second the removing of these 'notifications'

:surprise:

I pushed a 'thanks' button

"CBR-250-R, you do not have permission to access this page. This could be due to one of several reasons:
  1. Your user account may not have sufficient privileges to access this page. Are you trying to edit someone else's post, access administrative features or some other privileged system?
  2. If you are trying to post, the administrator may have disabled your account, or it may be awaiting activation."

Thanks went through, another thanks at another post also worked without 'no permission', after the first one.

Weird, I will get that fixed ASAP.

Also requested a fix for the list error issue.
