It will be interesting to see how many units Honda will produce next year. Lets face it, they just blew it. Think how many units they could have sold if they were just available. Feel sorry for people who put down a deposit and then found out they cant even get the darn thing. My dealer ordered 12 and are only getting 2 and there not here yet. Vary frustrating. Wake up Honda your missing the boat as they say. Kawasaki will have another great year selling the 250 ninga

My dealer was telling me today that Showa (the shocks guys) have been devastated by the quake in Japan and this is causing the shortages of deliveries and slowing bike production............

They didnt blew it, they had bad experince from the old cbr 250 which they did not sold so many of, so they are cautious. and that was even faster than the new cbr.
But times changes :)

I would have bought the Yamaha Mt-03 if Honda didnt make the new cbr- its the same pricetag, the mt-03 is a single cylinder 660cc.

Honda did a lot of research before building the new CBR 250. This is what the consumers and the dealers demanded. Maybe they were just being cautious and I can understand that but they missed it by a mile. Orders were 4 times greater than supply, and now they have a bike you cant even buy.

i talked to my dealer yesterday and he said they've been told they'll get 13-17 FOR THE YEAR!

initial shipment is down from 4 to 2

the only people more jacked about the delays than the buyers are the sellers :(

I agree that the sellers are PO'd about the whole thing. I wouldn't want to be holding 5 or 6 deposits, getting phone calls from those people wondering when their bike is coming in, some of those people starting to get irate, then not even getting enough bikes to satisfy the pre-payers when they're finally delivered. Ouch.

When I put my deposit down, my dealer estimated that my delivery would be at the end of June. The only reasonable explanation for that would be if he was pretty sure that his first batch (already pre-sold) would be 2 or 3 bikes, and he's setting up the other buyers (including me) for what he HOPES will be a date when his second order of bikes will come in.

Since this bike is just for commuting to work, I'm not even close to the point of bailing out on it yet. I make good money and can afford to drive my gas-guzzler, I just don't LIKE having to drive it. I'll probably feel differently if the "end of June" timeframe slips to something like "maybe in August", I just don't think I'd be willing to give Honda (or anyone else for that matter) that much leeway.
