Also forget to add this: There are some filters being sold on ebay and other sites such as the HiFlo HF111. This is not the right filter.... it's for the old CBR250 from the early 90's.

don't trust Ebay filters. Buddy bought one, used it and regrets it. It didn't do much for filtering the oil. OEM is always the best way or a good aftermarket brand such a K&N
Especially seeing that the CBR250R is a new bike, you might as well do things right from the start and maintain it properly. "HiFlo" might be good, but OEM is the best.

Thanks for the link Mongoose. I visited the Honda Parts Nation site and tried ordering the filter. It is reasonably priced at $7.82. However, the cheapest shipping to Minnesota was more than $23. The KYJ means this part was originally fitted to a honda CBR250 2011 so then NO other filters wont fit.
No clue about the parts nation site or whether it certified. Only place i found on the net so far to have the filter. I'm sure over time the filter will become more available. This is gonna be a popular bike.

Just got my 600 mile service done and had to use the Kawasaki filter, tech said the filter was just like the Honda one.
Yup, the stock CBR and N250 oil filters are identical, and many Honda dealers have used them.

Thursday I called my dealer to schedule my 600 mile service and he was overeager to set a time. I had to slow him down and ask if he had the oil filter available. He said "Of course." I then pointed out that folks on the forums have been having difficulty getting a hold of the proper filter since this is a brand new bike. He asked again what the bike was and said he would check with the parts guys and get back to me. I asked if he wanted the part number and he seemed surprised that I had it, but took down the number. Nearly 5 hours later I got a message that they didn't have the filter, were trying to get one delivered from Honda overnight and that they would get back to me today.
Just wanted to mention this to anyone else who might have their 600 mile service coming up. Make sure the dealership has the correct parts in stock before you make your appointment (unless you like making several trips for your first scheduled service). :thumbdown:

To search for parts, which bike are everyone choosing as there are two CBR250's in the list. A CBR250R AC and a CBR250R 2AC one, both same VIN? Is the 2AC the ABS version?
My black, non-ABS version is a "E2 CBR250RB(2AC) NH-A35 BLK" with 000896 at the end of the VIN. One of the first 1K maybe? Just did my first oil change yesterday. The K&N filter (KN-112) is an exact match to the OEM one. The K&N SKU is 152224. The local price was approximately $10CDN. The filter was in the database for the CBR250R.
Finding a recommended oil was tricky though, most are 'energy conserving' but I found a high mileage oil that wasn't. After a few more klicks, I expect to move the synthetic.

Personally I am using AMSoil 10w-30 fully synthetic motorcycle oil. It's made for motorcycles with wet clutches. Also I think Honda has it's own brand of synth if you wanna stick to OEM.
