I noticed yesterday that there is an oil puddle under my bike. It only has 400 miles on it. This should not be happening...

Background info... I drove it home friday after work and I admit I was slighty abusive (leaning and high rpms 7k-9k). Sat all day saturday and when I when to ride sunday at like 5. There was a puddle of oil under the bike. I have never crashed... I dropped it on right side last week... but nothing major jus a few scuffs. Looks like it is coming from one of the tubes at the bottom...

I will be posting a pic latter...

Was that small or big puddle? I noticed two or three times small (2 centimeters) puddles from black hoses under the bike. That was aboit 300-600 km, before 1000km service.
Honda Authorised Service mechanic told me that it is nothing to worry. That black hoses are breathing hoses - i.a. from fuel tank.
I've done over 2600 km and all is ok - no oil consumption at all.
I only have 80 mi. on mine and noticed a few drops of oil coming out of the hose that I believe is the crank case breather hose. I am not to worried at this point.
Don't worry delslo. my cbr pass to 5,500 km.
This case happen to me and my cbr250r 's friends. It not oil leak. It is the grese.
Delslo, i think that is like a breathing hose. i dont have as many miles as you yet and got hot after a ride today and saw your entry so i went to the garage to investigate on my bike.. youre right! I had two little drips hanging off that cluster of hoses. like greenish almost the color of anti freeze.. there wasnt enough to liquid to drip but there were traces..(Ill send in the samples to the C.S.I. lab for the results ;-> )
oops.. meant to say got home today after a ride... not hot
I hate to see this happening but I am glad to see the leakage is coming from the over-drain hoses, if it was coming from somewhere else I would be greatly concerened. Sooner or later more people will get detailed answers from their dealers and you will be able to rest easy. ;)
Looks to be a bit of excess being sent out the breather, so not a worry. What is the level of oil in the sight glass? If there is too much oil in the sump it has to go somewhere, and is more likely to happen after a bit of a thrashing. Likewise with the coolant if it is filled to over the "max" mark.

If the oil is coming from elsewhere, the shop should fix it under warranty. There was a bit of a leak from my Honda Dream after the mechanic I use overhauled it at 170,000 km. He sorted it, no questions asked.
It hasn't happened again. I am going to swing by the shop during lunch and ask em. Since it hasn't happened again, I am not too worried but it shouldn't had done it to start with...

What all do they do at the 600 miles first service?
Sounds like when you tipped it over, some oil got into the airbox and drained out the tube.
Or maybe they were a little generous with the fluids during setup and the bike is just ejecting what didn't belong.
The pinkish tube is the crank case breather hose. It's there to relieve pressure, if there is too much oil or the oil gets sloshed around a lot some extra oil could easily come out there.

This is what I'm thinking. Had this happen to some ATV's I have owned.

So does mine, but i know it is oil from chain, we all know that it must have chainoil often :) i use it after long trips.
This isn't chain oil. If you look closely it appears that that some has evaporated away while some has run down the parking spot. I dropped it a week before this happened. I could understand it happening the next day or a few hrs latter but not a week after... I haven't stopped by the shop yet but I will on the way home.
I was wrong... I was able to get by the shop today and before I could finish saying, "My 2011 CBR250 has an oil..." He finished it by saying, "...leak coming from the tubes at the bottom. This is normal. When Honda spun it up on the dyno they used a crappy chain lube that got slung off. Over time this runs down and comes from the tubes but its not coming outta the tubes, just around them... Just apply a high quality and sticky chain lube and stop worrying about your new baby..."

So I am not going to worry any more... Issue solved... Happiness high
Aren't you missing the hose "end cap" that plugs that hose up until it is removed for sludge disposal? Maybe they forgot to reinstall it at the dealer?
Sounds like...

Sounds like when you dropped it some of the oil went through the crankcase vent into the airbox. Once back up, the oil drained out of the airbox. Usually, those lines have a plug at the end to keep oil from dropping in front of the rear tire, but lower end bikes often do not. Very likely nothing actually wrong with your bike... just a little oil in the airbox. Check your oil level just to make sure you are still in the appropriate range.

This is the most likely explanation.

I'm still slowing collecting oil - months after my daughter set it down - from where it doesn't belong on my other bike.
