Perfect Speed of Gear Shifting

wow, you are so quick to change gears. When i'm commuting mine are still above yours, but when i am doing some spirited riding mine goes like this:

1st- 0 to 50kmph
2nd-51 to 80kmph
3rd- 81 to 110kmph
4th- 111 to 130kmph

then you can bang it up a couple of gears to drop the revs. For general riding i usually shift around 6-7k rpm and cruise at around 5k minumum. 6th at 56kph seems like it would be lugging a fair bit and you won't see much power until a few seconds after touching the throttle. I sit in 4th at 60kph which is around 5k rpm

when i first got the bike i was similar in shifting quite low. When you are cruising along the same road doing nothing you will definitely want to be at or above 4-4.5k at least, somewhere around 5k is where i sit for normal riding about and i will shift around 6-7 for normal riding or at the limiter for fun riding.

don't think about it too much, as long as you aren't sitting too low in the revs with no power you should be fine and once you have broken your bike in you won't do any harm if you rev the bike quite hard within reason of course

It depends. If Im on a city road and I will have to stop soon for a light or just may need some extra power for what ever reason I keep it in a lower gear so that I dont have to down shift If I need to get going. Also, being in the lower gear will increase the engine breaking letting you slow down faster. I just need to remember to tap the break so the car behind me knows Im slowing down, because cars don't have as much engine break, especially automatic cars.

If Im on a non busy road I may be in 6th gear by 40-45mph.

Generally i ride the crap out of the lil cbr. Usually shifting at 10-10.25k every gear. I still average 50-55 mgp like that. If i am just putting around ill shift about 9k rpm. I guess i just like atleast hitting the powerband every gear for some reason. Under 6k, i down shift to next lowest gear.

Cruising/driving legitimately to get some where... (in MPH)
1st: up to 10mph
2nd: up to 20mph
3rd: up to 30mph
4th: up to 40mph
5th: up to 50mph
6th: everything above

If I'm screwing around for fun, I shift by RPM, as high as redline if the mood strikes to lay into it.
