Does your CBR250R have a buzzy/rattle noise at around 5500rpm?

Mine does, and a number of others seem to as well. With bikes sold in Thailand and America. Id like to see how common it is to gauge whether it is a singular issue - people have been speaking about the roller rocker arms having 1mm of play and possibly vibrating against the head.

But first can we get some numbers of how many people seem to have this issue.

I was running it this evening right around 5500 and I didn't get any significant rattles or noises. I've only got 8 miles on mine though. :)

When reving from idle no noise at 5500, when riding at light throttle or light load I can hear some rattle sound but as soon as I twist the throttle and put a load on it it goes away.

Had different rattles at different rpms until the valves were adjusted. No rattles now. Make sure the valve clearances are adjusted at the 1000km service, a big ask here in India as nobody has the shims.

Ha HA this is hilarious. Thank you Redline you have made my day.

On a serious note Honda of Thailand should be finished with their run producing 2011 CBR250R's and moving on to the 2012's. The Thailand plant was estimated to have produced 60,000 of these units in 2011 for worldwide distribution.

...and you have started a poll and got around 15 positves and one from Thailand. Well it's conclusive, this bike is junk.

Forgive me my sarcasim but some one needs to start putting things in perspective. If my bike developes this noise I would be let down too... but when we are in this price range you have to admit this can almost be looked at as a disposable bike. Don't misunderstand, I love my bike, so much so I will probably keep it after I buy a second one to get the ABS if my dealer can ever get it. After all, we all have a 2nd pair of gloves and such in case they get drenched in the rain... why not another bike in case something happens to the first? :D

My rattle is extremely pronounced and is pretty wide in the band. It's not just 5000-7000 like some peoples. It seems to be more pronounced when I use a lot of engine braking to get around a bit(through my neighborhood with all the speed humps) before going into the rev range. If I just crank and go from a restaurant or something it seems to be less pronounced.

So basically, anytime I leave home it sucks . . . anytime I leave anywhere else it's annoying and loud.

UPDATE: Found my rattle. It was a loose faring bolt. I don't have the engine rattle, it just sounded like it was the engine.

'njoy,

I bought my CBR250 in April. Babied it through to the first service without exceeding 7000 RPMs. Then I started "riding" it. The engine sounds like it's going to fly apart. I've had it back to Honda three times, and the last time they had the regional rep in to ride my bike.

They tell me "There's nothing to worry about". Well, ... I'll tell ya, ... I'm 66 years old I've owned more Hondas (from 350's to Interstates) than most people and have riden single and with groups, ... all over the U.S.......Florida to Seattle and most places in between.

I've "Never" had a engine that makes the racket this thing makes. It sounds as though some one is inside the engine, ... beating it with a ball peen hammer.

I completely expect it to explode. I've stopped riding it, and am going to get rid of it come Spring. For the first time though, I may buy something besides a Honda. I feel they screwed me on this piece of junk.

I didn't vote because although I have a rattle like noise I am not convinced that it's coming from the engine.
It doesn't sound mechanical. It sounds like it might be the plastics or perhaps an untied connector clacking around. You should see how much stuff is bundled under the tank. It's unreal.
My noise is never at an exact rpm. It varies from day to day.
The engine feels healthy, really healthy and I still haven't needed to add any oil to it even after I've put over 3K miles on her since the first service.

This puts me in a pickle.
If I vote yes, I am possibly lying because I don't believe it's mechanical.
If I vote no, I am possibly lying because I have a noise. I just don't think it's the same noise. Until I hear a 'rattling' 250 I can make no presumptions about mine.

So.. Strong engine + no loss of oil = me no worry :)
