Hi everyone. I am interested in your imput about your replacement tire experience. Over the years I have liked the performance of Michelins and Bridgestones (on other bikes). Is there any problems using a 150/70/17 on the rear if a 140 is not available? Thanks for any advice or opinions!

If you fit Pirelli or Bridgestone then you can keep the correct sizes in 2-3 ranges of compounds to suit your usage.

The OEM tires are a bit Heavy. Use DennisKirk.com to check for tires as they give weights for all tires under the specs section on each tire. OEM rear is 13.95lbs. Duro for example is 11.82lbs, and Bridgestone BT090 is like 10.2 I think? Anyway, I'll be going ligherweight tires when I change mine out at some point. Putting a 150 on is a bit of a squeeze and will pinch the tire a bit leaving you with some chicken strips. Sup 2 you though.

I was tempted to do the 150 rear with Pilot Powers but searched and had some people say stick with size size for more agile handling vs going bigger. There is no way I want to mess with the handling of this bike, its the bike's best feature. So I got Pirelli Diablo Rosso II on the way. If Michelin had made the Pilot Road 3 in 140 I would have gotten that.

Just got to ride the 1st time with Rosso II, it was about 39 degree high temp so had to take it slow. 1st impression- the bike feels like it lost weight, and will be a treat once it scrubs in more. You can feel how the Rosso II wants to turn all the time, its made for cornering.
This is a very soft tire, in the cold you can feel the softness.

It's been a while now since you posted switching to the new Rosso II tires.
I have a pair on the way and would love to hear more from you about how they perform.
Thanks

IR

I love the tires but only got 3,500 miles out of the rear tire. Can't afford that frequency since I ride a lot. Last less than 6 months of fall and winter riding.

I used the Pirelli Sport Demons when I got a nail in my rear around 1.5-2k miles. It was pretty much dead at 8k. I do a lot of highway riding so the middle wore out pretty quick.

Installed some Pilot Road 2 tires with stock front and 150 rear and I couldn't be happier. The 150 size isn't too noticeable to me. Bike still handles great. Flicked it around today in some pretty tight spots and they held up. I wouldn't recommend trying to Rossi with them but most people wouldn't recommend Pilot Roads for the track ;)

Hasn't really rained here in Texas since I got them changed, but I'm confident they'll hold up.

For about the same amount of money as what the bias-ply Sport Demons go for, you can get the new Michelin Pilot Street Radials, and unlike the other Michelin radials (Pilot Road 2 and 3) the PSR's are made specifically (and in the correct sizes) for small displacement bikes like the CBR250R/300R.
