Race Tech Suspension

I have spoken with race tech over the last couple days, and they are looking for a CBR250R to R&D suspension upgrades on. They need the bike for three weeks, and offer a 40% discount on parts and labor for what ever level of suspension you want. If anyone is interested, they have to book the 3 weeks. Call race tech X107, Christie Gunter for info from the company.

added: they are in Carona, Ca.

Unbelievable that Race-Tech offers discount instead of free product for loan of bike.

That was my thought, I did not like the deal.
especially the labor cost.
if i were on the west coat i'd try to negotiate with them. man i wish there were more companies on the east coast that needed a guinea pig
I won't deal with racetech at all. I tried for months to get answers from them about my CBR929RR and finally gave up. My advice is to steer clear!
I imagine the labor is just removing/installing the forks & shock and replacing the fork internals. The same that your dealership would charge for servicing your forks but 40% off. Not really a bad deal.

Plus 40% off the goodies themselves ain't bad... but 50% would be better.
Still you're looking at a grand instead of close to two grand if you do both ends of the bike.

I would be at the their shop in a heartbeat if I could.
If no one loans them a bike by next spring I will certainly haul my bike down there for the deal. I've see race techs's work. I've ridden bikes with their setups.
They are worth it.
I agree, if they rent a bike and develop the parts, I will buy them and put them on. They have the only solution for damper rod forks, turning them into disk valving like male slider forks. The shock is 1,495.00?? When my name is Valentino Rossi.
I too, might partake on this proposition if they're still offering it next year.
FYI, all the racetech front end parts for an EX 250 are a direct drop in. no need for R&D.

So springs and emulators for the little Ninja drop into the little Honda?
That's almost too easy :D

I reckon Race Tech doesn't know this yet but hopefully soon will.
So I would assume the only R&D would be the shock. I've never taken a close enough look at the Ninja 250 to see how it was set up. But it makes sense that they both run 38mm forks considering they are similar in weight & power.
Oh Sorry guys.

I should have mentioned what the OP said. I talked to them back in June and decided not to drop my bike off. I was really interested in a steering damper, but opted out. I was also looking for something free since I didnt really have all that much money at the time.

Great company with excellent work.

the penske from the EX is a direct bolt on. i did this, AT the track on friday night before the race and it took me 15 minutes with minimal tools.
Thank you very much for this little gold nugget of info.
I need to save up some $$$ pronto and give ol' Racy Techie a call :)

Call me an odd duck but I prefer to mod the handling, then the ergo's of a bike first. After all that's done then I'll go for the power mods.
I thought I'd be waiting until next spring or summer for this but now...The wheels in my nogg'n are turning :)

I agree on the handling. The bike sure can use a damper especially at freeway speeds. The front forks are a tad soft as well as the rear shock. Race tech does some top notch suspension work. I cant hardly imagine what it would have cost to drop in new front cartridges.
uhh less than $300 for the front, and $700 for the rear shock.
suspension

well my CBR250RAB is on it's way to Race Tech as a donner bike. THEY WILL DO both the front and the rear:) I'll keep you all posted.it will be a week or two as I'm getting on a BMW K1200RS with OHLINS ON IT for a trip to ID.
woolf, You are my hero!

Thank you for being the donor guy. I'm a little bit jealous :D

On Edit: Perhaps by the time I have my suspension fund saved they will have come up with something CBR250R specific.
Either that or they'll have Ninja 250 parts with new part numbers :)
Either way it will be thoroughly tested.

And on that note....
DRC, how was the little Honda with the Ninja bits?
the suspension worked flawlessly. and like i said before. the Elka brand shot for the EX has a part number of CBR1250810. Leads me to believe that Kawi copied the honda when they made the EX. they are both made in Thailand...

waiting for parts with honda part numbers is just silly....

If I had the $$ right now I probably wouldn't wait. Not after reading your first hand experience.
But since I have no choice but to wait until November/December, there's no harm in seeing if they come up with anything different.

It's improbable but not impossible :)
DRC, thanks for the info, opens up the choices.
