Newbie question. Today was my first ride in heavy fog/drizzle. My face plate quickly became impossible to see through between the mist and fogging. When I opened it up, my glasses quickly suffered the same fate. I kept wiping them off every few blocks. It was pretty scary. What's there to do other than not ride in these conditions?

I wax my faceshield and wear contacts. Also, my gloves have a rubber "windshield wiper" built into the side of the thumb that does a good job clearing the visor. Or you can just wipe it with your hand every so often as needed. I usually don't have a problem seeing in rain unless it's night time and raining. Then wiping the visor is the only way to see out of it.
Also, anti-fog wipes on the inside of the visor are nice to use.

plenty of anti-fog treatments(sprays,creams,etc) on the market. i personally use the same brand anti-fog as my helmet, "Shark". have used "Cat Crap" took longer to apply and buff off, and didn't work as well. "Rain Ex" on exterior of visor beads water and repels it fast, dont know if u get in the US though.

+1 for RainX. It works really well but no matter what I apply to the visor it comes off every time I clean it with alcohol lens wipes. So that's why I usually don't bother with rainx and just use spray wax/detailer. Works almost as well and easier to apply.
But I would recommend rainx or any other treatment you'd put on a car windshield as it's the same basic idea.

If possible for your helmet, I'd suggest just getting an anti-fog shield for it. Might just me by perception of it, but I think that would save you a lot of trouble of having to spray it or wipe it every now and then. You can put it on and forget about it.

The pin lock visor will greatly reduce fogging. There is two parts to it, a visor for your helmet that has some special studs, and an insert that is held in place by those studs.

BTW-next time the shield starts to fog up .... just give it a little spit and wipe
like a scuba diver does to his mask before diving

best anti-fog ... best part , is free

other tips:

don't open the shield all the way , only crack if need
shake head at high speed for rain drops to disperse
open rear helmet vent , close front
keep your body in a tuck position (unless you're a anti-tucker)
keep a zip-lock bag handy for cellphones , wallet , ect..
keep your route in mind , try not to make too many unnecessary stops
be extra alert , and give yourself extra space
try have fun , is like a land jet-ski

Is it possible to make stickies?

yes it is, there are some stickies up the top of the page but they are only really used for site announcements and news, not many stickies are made for common questions etc.

It sounds like pin lock is the way to go. However I also wear glasses. Any other glasses riders out there with tips or advice?

Slow down

Ensure you keep plenty of space between your bike and other vehicles

Be gentle with your steering and braking inputs

Get a well ventilated helmet

A clean, unscratched visor will shed water from quite low speeds. Open the visor when stopped or going slowly.

Stay warm; woollen under-gear can absorb a bit of moisture while maintaining its insulating properties.
