Small metal part in the brake reservoir‽

Hey.

I was cleaning my front brake reservoir and all of a sudden there was a small metal part flying around.

How do I fit it back in and what does it even do?

It happens that this part is jumping out , and then you are returning it to his place.
If necessary, you can gently bend the three tabs outward, to increase the force of the tabs spring.

It seems like something there doesn't slide well, but jumps, maybe it was like that before the brake fluid was changed, and you only noticed it now?
I would take the caliper off, clean it, apply copper grease where needed, and put everything back.
But don't take my word for granted. If you have any doubt about the brake performence, then please contact a qualified mechanic.
