So finally last night, I took a few hours and got the windshield off. Well, actually it was 5 hours..yes, it was quite the job getting the shield off, but think it came out really well. Considering it only cost 10 bucks for the acrylic paint and clear coat. Better than 80 bucks.

Why paint and not plasti dip? You spent $4 too much and you can't reverse what you did and you wasted 5 hours of your life. You did a good job but why paint and why go through all of the trouble of removing the windscreen? Just thinking out loud....

Acrylic paint?

Plasti-dip?

Do you guys not know the windscreen is meant to be seen through?

I'm all in favor of tinting it, but there is a rattle can for that, and it's not filled with either plasti-dip or acryllic, it's called VHT Nightshades.

It is specifically for any clear thing that one wants to appear darker, yet still pass light (such as tail lights, turn signals, motorcycle windscreens, etc).

Try riding your cbr250r while looking through dark tint, it's no better than looking through a completely blacked out windscreen. Also, anybody 6ft and over will not be able to look through the windscreen physically even if they wanted to.

Btw, plasti dip reinforces your windscreen and will help avoid penetration by any road debris. In other words, you won't get holes in your windscreen with plasti dip.

You should have done it from the back side. And don't fall in the plasti dip trap..

This was done from the inside
The inside would have been the way to go.

IMO, the trap would be doing it the cheap way (ie using rattle can whatever). Why not just buy a tented windscreen?.

With my new $90.00 one alot less bugs and wind hit my helmit visor! Great job on smoking the stock windshield!!!

Looks good. I don't see it lasting long though. Might even peel.

The CBR250R group sure is a cheap group. :D

I'm 6'1" and see just fine through it. I do like to be able to see what's directly in front of my tire.

PeeDee every thread is getting somewhat tiresome.

VHT is what I'll be using
One tip with the VHT, go easy on it, and don't skimp on the prep work. It will take some elbow grease to get it nice and smooth. There are a lot of great write-ups everywhere on the best methods for VHT (unfortunately, most apply to tail lights and turn signals).

I'll bet you that 1 light coat will give you the results you're looking for.

EDIT: Oh, and do the inside surface, not the outside. Less trouble if you can't quite get the wet sanding/polishing just right, because the outside view will still be the glass-smooth factory finish.
