Only two nights away on the bike on my own this year but I packed a lot in:

I stayed at a campsite a 15 minute walk from Llangrannog in south west Wales

Every few miles along the coast there was a valley leading down to a small settlement or just a deserted beach

Just like the Grand Canyon, only smaller. Much smaller!

I didn't eat there but the name couldn't be ignored!

This was the prime target of my trip. The 'Internal Fire Museum of Power', devoted to an age when power production was maybe far less efficient but far more elegant. This diesel engine is over 100 years old but still in good working order.

In the afternoon I walked a nine mile section of the coast path

On the way back home I headed inland to the hills of central Wales and the Elan Valley

The early morning weather was fantastic and I even managed a bit of off-roading. Who needs a BMW GS? Although I'm sure I would have been faster on the loose gravel on my mountain bike.

The area is home to four dams and reservoirs, all constructed between 60 and 120 years ago.

And on the way home I achieved a new personal best mileage between fill-ups
