Does anyone know if doing the zip tie mod to quicken your throttle response will cause RPMs to change when the bars are at full left or right lock?

You would just have to re-adjust the cable free play after installing the zip tie.

On my bike, the throttle cables have the least amount of free play or slack when the handle bars are in the full left lock position, so that's where I position the bars when checking/adjusting the cable free play. I would imagine that this will be the same for all CBR250R's (unless the throttle cables happen to be routed incorrectly).

I set mine at 1/16" free play in the full left lock position, so that with the bars straight ahead I've got about 1/8" of free play.

How much would be too much free play? Just curious.

I think a 1/4" of rotation at the grip is borderline excessive... with the handle bars straight ahead, 1/8" is perfect.

Well I think mine might need some adjusting. How do you measure it? Estimate?

There is a faint mold line on the grip flange that you can use as a reference point to measure it with a small ruler (I'll admit that I don't actually measure the free play... I adjust it by feel, after many years working as a motorcycle technician).

Page 71 of the U.S./English version of the Owner's Manual shows the throttle free play adjustment.

Also, make sure you check the free play with the handle bars in the full left lock position, as this is where the throttle cables typically have the least amount of slack due to the routing of the cables.
