To GoPro or not to GoPro.

I have been researching some different cameras to mount on myself and the bike for cool action footage. I also want something small enough to fit in my helmet for cemmentary. Anyone have any experience with the GoPro HD Helmet HERO Camera?

I can't say I'm very experienced with the different cameras but I'm using the GoPro with the handlebar mount. I like this option because I don't have to stick a mount onto my bike or helmet. It's easy to turn off and on when I want and I can flip it around quickly. I can use the handlebar mount in other places on the bike too, though I do have to put a piece of rubber or paper towel around the post to get a nice comfy grip.

The camera itself is not intuitive by any means. But once I forced myself to read the directions it's a piece of cake.
Contour makes some cool cameras too. You should check them out.

+1 on Contour. Very configurable, excellent quality video and sound.
I have a GoPro and my friends all other brands, we have compared the quality, sound, noise, format, hd or not, and the balance on image when shaking like when I go mountain biking .... The GoPro ia the way to go, my suggestion.
im also getting the gopro hd hero2 for all my adventures this summer

That is what I have, cost about $160-200 Costco had for cheap last Christmas

I broke some of the extension mountain biking, does not that the vibration that well once you link more than 3links... It was about 6inches from handlebar while I was doing some extreme jumps ... Well I broke the links,
They don't recommend to do that I did and I know now why jjijijijijij

Keep the links on max of 2increments and u should be more than fine. If you put the slide in/out kid directly on your bike... Will be solid as a rock
I currently use the Gopro HD Hero2 and it has an external mic input for commentary. you don't have to put the whole camera inside your helmet just a microphone.

I've used the Drift HD and it was.....alright. Gopro out does that camera by a long way.

I also have a VholdR contour HD and it's pretty great but the Gopro HERO2 is better in my opinion than all of them.

Check out one of my videos using the Gopro with a short review of the camera.
actually just bought the GoPro HD Hero 960. Love it =]

160-200?!?!?! wish i knew about this deal
I bought a ram stem mount for my iPhone, I'm hoping to use this for a ride that I'm going on....we'll see how it works.
Love my ContourRoam, just cost $115 from Amazon..but I wasnt worried about making any commentary so its suites me just fine for recording my ride. It has an internal microphone and its really great at recording wind buffeting noise unless its behind the windscreen, But Thats ok with me too. no one wants to hear my southern drawl anyway

If it can take footage like this (yesterday) i want one.
I brought the Contour Plus recently. I prefer the shape of the camera compared to the GoPro. No problems with the video quality and the viewfinder link to my iPhone is great for making sure the camera is aimed where you want it and changing settings when your out.

Geez - I really felt sorry for the bike ("please don't hit the wall....please don't hit the wall.......")

with the introduction of the 2nd gen GoPro, the original GoPro went on sale late last year. I picked up the 960 for $150 + coupon. It's been great. I have nothing by good experience. I also bought the suction cup, which came in handy for mounting on various spots on the bikes, inside/outside cars. I highly recommend that. I would also recommend getting the grab bag, which comes with various linkages so you can angle the camera just right.
So… I tried the Ram iPhone mount to capture video, and it was terrible, very disappointing as far as video recording.. I guess GoPro or go home…

I’m in the go home category right now...
Ok, I think I found which cam I want, think im going to go with the ContourRoam and do everything they do in this video:
