As I began to slow down, the engine sound changed fairly dramatically. The character of the noise was the same, but the volume of the rattle was probably 2 or 3 times what I had come to accept as normal. This remained true for the few minutes driving through that town. This loud rattle was suffered in gears 3 through 5, whenever the rpms got to about 5000 - 6000. At the higher volume and more continuous frequency, I perceive the sound as "marbles in a blender".
Good description of it, as it's kind of 'grindy' sounding.

Just a pity the simpleton trolls need to pollute the thread.

I got the rattle too, and the bike went through it's first service already. Let's be realistic the engine makes some noises - who can say for sure if it's "normal" or not? Certainly not me... Did I notice any performance issues? No. Does it bother me? No. Do I care? No.

I'll start worrying if we get reports of premature engine failure until then motor on.

Ive just gotten my CBR 250 and like it so far(200km) I do have a bit of a rattle at the same rpms but IMHO I think its coming from outside the engine. I previously owned a Ninja 250 and was very disapointed with it,no guts after 80 km/h were I find the CBR has plenty of grunt in the higher speeds.
