In 2006 Americna Honda started only putting enough tools in the bag to access the battery. If a bike didn't require any tools to get to the battery, no tools were inluded. My 06 F4I didn't have any tools, battery was under the seat which was key released. My 06 1000RR came with an allen wrench to remove the seat to access the battery.

If you really want a tool kit, scour ebay for parted out tool kits, I find the tool kits for the 05 and older 600RR to be the most complete.

My 08 230L came with 2 allen wrenches (one size for the side panels and one size bigger for the seat, along with a handle for leverage to get the seat bolts off and on tight enough.

My 07 VFR came with no tools, battery is accessed from removed the seat with the key.

I called my dealer I bought the F4i from and was told no tools included, I didn't believe it to be correct so I call American Honda and that is the information I was given.

Sorry to revive an older thread, but for a newbie, what exactly is the wire-thingy in the UK/rest-of-the-world-not-US toolkit? Guess I'll be making my own. Thanks!

That is the helmet lock. This one is pretty crap useless. If it wasn't for being free, id never use it. Since you don't have one consider yourself lucky. Buy a nicer more convenient one.

Well now I know what that helmet cable is, I can toss it cause I will never use it.

I was thinking of just getting one of those 'multi-tools' that has a little of everything in it to keep in there along with a small flashlight.

I got a small multi-tool (pliers, knife, screw drivers)small led flashlight, tire gauge, cheap plastic rainsuit (ebay $15) helmet lock cable, and a bungee cord net....I can just get the back seat to close by pushing down on it...lol
I have a tire repair kit (reamer, plugs, co2 tire adapter/cartridges) that would fit under there too if i took the rainsuit out...but odds of getting caught out in a rainstorm are alot higher than getting a flat..so i carry the repair kit in a tank bag along with a liter bottle of water, sunglasses ect..ect..when i go riding out in the country for a long day ride

I had actually bought 'the grifter" license plate box for some extra carrying space for small things but had to take it off because my tag wasnt illuminated at night anymore, it was too far out from under the tag light with the box installed

I was thinking of one of those boxes too, never thought about it blocking the plate light. Guess that idea is done. Thanks!

I plan on picking up one of the multi-tools and flashlight on my next visit to the local Cycle Gear shop.

As already stated, in Canada we get the full kit. It's not just Honda cheaping out though!! Three or four years ago I purchased a BMW F400S and when I got home couldn't find the tool kit. I called the dealer and sure enough it was an over $200 option. When I wanted the service manual it was a $130 option, that's for a $2.00 CD. All the bikes sold in Canada now come with a 2 year full warranty, not sure about the US or for how long it going to be part of the deal. Also got $250 off from Honda Canada.
