Rack

The 125 rack (new version 125), should fit the 250. That being said, I have seen pics on japanese sites that show a 250 givi rear carrier and side bags, but not offered in Canada yet.

wow, that's huge, that's ungainly and it's ugly.

As soon as the rack mounts are obtainable for the 250 I'm getting one !

I can't wait to be freed of the multi-bungee cord routine and of having to take everything with me or lock what's left behind on the bike.

GIVI ok, any size

"Support"? Don't need anything. Notice in the picture the Givi base-plate is not integrated into the rear carrier, it is BOLTED on. This is the setup I use, I've got a 55L liter Givi on my 250rABS. Just got back from COSTCO lastnight with a passenger on back, and the GIVI crammed full.. still cruising at 110kph smooth as silk.:)
Just be VERY careful, weighting that box will make this 160kg bike seriously top-heavy. On the kickstand the bike may tip over.

that sounds fantastic. can you tell us the part numbers for the bolt on rack, and box that you have installed ? I'd like to see about ordering a set.

Sure: here it is:

Keep in mind there are two box series, monoKEY and monoLOCK; they are not compatible.

This is mounted on the Honda 250r rack:

HONDA : Rear carrier [0SKZXKYJ05]
about 14,000 yen.

I've used this box/mount setup on three bikes, just swap the box to the bike I'm using for the day. works great.

Does the rack slip over the grab handles on either side, how does it get bolted on exactly? The picture doesn't show the cbr grab handles.
yeah, that picture. It looks like the rack is bolted on where the rear grab rails used to be.. that'd be bolted to the subframe under the seat. if so, that would be the best solution...

The Honda rear 'carrier' (rack) requires removal of the grab handles. The two bolts for each handle are used to hold on the rack. The Givi mounting plate has four bolts and 'hooks' to hold it to the (Honda) rack.

Hope this helps

Um... so, how do we get one of these in North America? The only website I could find was one in the UK that refuses to ship outside of EU.

I ordered the luggage rack from the company in Japan listed in an earlier post.. the air freight to the USA was about $30.. I'll wait until I actually get the rack and see that it installs OK before committing to buying the Top Box and mounting plate... The Top Box and plate can be ordered from TwistedThrottle. I"m going to see if my local dealer will match their prices and order from my dealer if they can come close...

I got the rack today. Not unexpected, the bolt holes were a little off on one side and this required a few minutes with a file.. no returning the rack now...

With the design of it, all the weight of the rack is held by the welds that fix the rack tubes to the mounting plates. Hope the welds are good.

My local dealer agreed to match TwistedThrottle's price on the Givi E52 and a mounting plate so I ought to have it all together soon.. bye bye bungee cords..

Thanks, that looks great! Where are you located (i.e., for the shipping cost example/reference). Also, what are those things hanging down from the rack in the 2nd picture that look like screws?

One other question, is that tubular steel or solid?

I'm on the West Coast.. pretty close to Japan, I guess.. their site is clearly designed with international sales in mind.. each item has a shipping code based on the size/weight of the article and a page which lists the freight charges by shipping code and destination (continent/country).. pretty nice..

The things hanging down are bungee cord securing pegs.. nice touch that I'm finding to be very useful.

The round sections of the rack are tubular. I rack is pretty hefty so I'm guessing that the tubes are of substantial thickness.

I'm just ordered the rack on website UK. (http://www.motorcycleplanet.co.uk/shopexd.asp?id=952) They says that this rack suit also for the 250 CBR. I'm waiting to receive it to have a look and comment.

Many thanks to everybody for comments, pictures and billyedtimmy for MP.

That rack looks good and about 1/2 the price of the Japanese one that I got. I'm happy with the build quality (and price) of what I got but I'll curious to hear about what the Givi rack is like 'in the metal'...
