wow, that's huge, that's ungainly and it's ugly.

As soon as the rack mounts are obtainable for the 250 I'm getting one !

I can't wait to be freed of the multi-bungee cord routine and of having to take everything with me or lock what's left behind on the bike.

"Support"? Don't need anything. Notice in the picture the Givi base-plate is not integrated into the rear carrier, it is BOLTED on. This is the setup I use, I've got a 55L liter Givi on my 250rABS. Just got back from COSTCO lastnight with a passenger on back, and the GIVI crammed full.. still cruising at 110kph smooth as silk.:)
Just be VERY careful, weighting that box will make this 160kg bike seriously top-heavy. On the kickstand the bike may tip over.
you're using this now ?
that sounds fantastic. can you tell us the part numbers for the bolt on rack, and box that you have installed ? I'd like to see about ordering a set.

>This is mounted on the Honda 250r rack:
rear rack
HONDA : Rear carrier [0SKZXKYJ05]
about 14,000 yen.

Does the rack slip over the grab handles on either side, how does it get bolted on exactly? The picture doesn't show the cbr grab handles.
yeah, that picture. It looks like the rack is bolted on where the rear grab rails used to be.. that'd be bolted to the subframe under the seat. if so, that would be the best solution...

Um... so, how do we get one of these in North America? The only website I could find was one in the UK that refuses to ship outside of EU.
I ordered the luggage rack from the company in Japan listed in an earlier post.. the air freight to the USA was about $30.. I'll wait until I actually get the rack and see that it installs OK before committing to buying the Top Box and mounting plate... The Top Box and plate can be ordered from TwistedThrottle. I"m going to see if my local dealer will match their prices and order from my dealer if they can come close...

I got the rack today. Not unexpected, the bolt holes were a little off on one side and this required a few minutes with a file.. no returning the rack now...

With the design of it, all the weight of the rack is held by the welds that fix the rack tubes to the mounting plates. Hope the welds are good.

My local dealer agreed to match TwistedThrottle's price on the Givi E52 and a mounting plate so I ought to have it all together soon.. bye bye bungee cords..

Thanks, that looks great! Where are you located (i.e., for the shipping cost example/reference). Also, what are those things hanging down from the rack in the 2nd picture that look like screws?

One other question, is that tubular steel or solid?
I'm on the West Coast.. pretty close to Japan, I guess.. their site is clearly designed with international sales in mind.. each item has a shipping code based on the size/weight of the article and a page which lists the freight charges by shipping code and destination (continent/country).. pretty nice..

The things hanging down are bungee cord securing pegs.. nice touch that I'm finding to be very useful.

The round sections of the rack are tubular. I rack is pretty hefty so I'm guessing that the tubes are of substantial thickness.

I'm just ordered the rack on website UK. (GIVI SR1103 Rack) They says that this rack suit also for the 250 CBR. I'm waiting to receive it to have a look and comment.

Many thanks to everybody for comments, pictures and billyedtimmy for MP.
That rack looks good and about 1/2 the price of the Japanese one that I got. I'm happy with the build quality (and price) of what I got but I'll curious to hear about what the Givi rack is like 'in the metal'...

Dammit! I tried to order one of these, and they said their out of stock (or backordered or something) for over a month, so no dice.

Anything else out there?
Which was out of stock: the E-52 topcase or the Rack ?

if it's the case, I'd try one of the other big GIVI cases,
if it's the japanese rack, then I'd try getting the GIVI branded one that someone else mentioned..

Basically, I just took some sturdy/steel shelving brackets, clamped them onto the grab rail, and then drilled a few holes in the grab rail to bolt the bracket on.

At the very least, it should hold until a *real* rack become available.
Nice job. I might keep an eye on the shelving brackets for fatigue failure. I stopped using them for accessory mounting after a number of them had failed and broken sometimes depositing my accessory onto the road. These incidents occurred when using them to mount accessories onto a Yamaha XS650, a real shaker. Maybe the CBR250 won't vibrate enough to affect them. Just a thought.

UPDATE, my $140 Honda rack broke. Admittedly I overloaded it, but the design concentrates stress on a flat metal bar instead of on a tube (which would NOT have broken). I will not buy that design again and instead I'm looking for a new seller.
since I have the same setup, I'm curious !
Did it break on a weld or did the actual flat piece fracture ?
The flat piece that bolts to the bike's subframe is pretty thick, I would have guessed that the weld could not hold (?)

Update, I checked my rack yesterday and saw the fatigue cracks starting. That's it, it's finished. Don't know what other options are out there. My dealer suggested having some bracing welded onto the rack (that was before it was visibly crumbling)... Now that it's cracked I won't bother.

Until GIVI or someone imports or makes a rack available in the US, I may try sawing off the arms from the rack top and bolting that directly onto the stock grab handles..

I'm glad that the rack didn't fail while I was on vacation 1,000 miles from home !

I got mine from here Motorbikes and Parts Luggage Specialsts - Givi Luggage, Bagster Laggage, Kappa Laggage it's the same as the CBR 125R one P/N SR1103. You need to buy the universal Monolock plate as well P/N KP-K628. I've got the Givi E450 top box on mine. Any place that stocks Givi should be able to get these for you.
thanks for that !

I see that they will ship to the U.S.. The shipping is about 50 pounds or $77 US, but I don't see any other way to get one of these. My dealer tried his US Givi rep, but they won't carry it..

Wasnt sure if i was going to get a top box on the CBR. Had them on 2 of my 3 scooters. (50cc-150cc-460cc scoots) Never got one on the 150 because i felt it ruined the look of the bike. Same feeling about the CBR. But i do miss lockable storage so was going to get one soon as the givi was available. but now from reading the above. maybe i will just not bother. I will be on the hwy alot next season and at 100kph + .. get kicked around in the wind enough without it so dont want to add in extra instability.

FWIW, I did a weeklong trip with a large GIVI box in the rear with freeways speeds at 130 kph and less. Including the rainstorm that I rode through going East out of Seattle, I didn't feel that the bike was getting blown around any more than other bikes that I've ridden in the same kinds of winds.

Quick update for U.S. readers.

Finally, a U.S. distributor stocks the GIVI rack:

Givi Topcase Rack (Honda CBR250R, '11-) - Givi SR1103 : TwistedThrottle.com

For me to order it from the UK would've cost about $200 US to have it delivered...
Delivery from the US to the US is a bit cheaper :)

I'll finally get my GIVI top case *back* on the bike since the failure of the Japanese rack last summer...

Yes. I've decided to wait for it.
I suspect that they probably put it into their catalog before they actually had any to ship. Probably waiting to see how many people try to order one before they decide to actually commit to having to get a batch themselves.. who knows...

Just installed the SR1103 rack and Givi B33 on my bike. Seems I have to make a small modification to the SR1103 rack though as installing it in the way they describe it in the diagram causes the pillion seat to not lock. I will post pictures later.

I installed my SR1103 rack yesterday.

I had to file the bolt holes on the seat support to widen the hole centers or else the bolts would not fit.
I had to remove the cushion rubber pieces from the underside of the seat or else I could not get the seat to lock.
