My solution is inclusive of side panniers for touring, as i am a photographer I need to bring gear too so I ended up with v35s as well. Anyway everything hangs off the longish monorack for the topbox, which bolts to the pillion pegs and the grab handle bolts. I felt that anything that hung off just the grabhandle bolts would be flimsy, and I had also to think about the turn signal lights once the panniers were installed so I moved them up under the rack for the top box where they are visible. As my top box has an active brake light I didn't worry too much about the two pieces giving the top box extra support (if you don't they bounce like h..l, plus this way you can go a little over the 3 kg load limit). Most days I just take the top box off as it really interferes with the aerodynamics above 100kph. The side panniers are fine up to around 125kph which on the country roads in Indonesia is plenty.

Wasnt sure if i was going to get a top box on the CBR. Had them on 2 of my 3 scooters. (50cc-150cc-460cc scoots) Never got one on the 150 because i felt it ruined the look of the bike. Same feeling about the CBR. But i do miss lockable storage so was going to get one soon as the givi was available. but now from reading the above. maybe i will just not bother. I will be on the hwy alot next season and at 100kph + .. get kicked around in the wind enough without it so dont want to add in extra instability.

I got mine from here Motorbikes and Parts Luggage Specialsts - Givi Luggage, Bagster Laggage, Kappa Laggage it's the same as the CBR 125R one P/N SR1103. You need to buy the universal Monolock plate as well P/N KP-K628. I've got the Givi E450 top box on mine. Any place that stocks Givi should be able to get these for you.
thanks for that !

I see that they will ship to the U.S.. The shipping is about 50 pounds or $77 US, but I don't see any other way to get one of these. My dealer tried his US Givi rep, but they won't carry it..

FWIW, I did a weeklong trip with a large GIVI box in the rear with freeways speeds at 130 kph and less. Including the rainstorm that I rode through going East out of Seattle, I didn't feel that the bike was getting blown around any more than other bikes that I've ridden in the same kinds of winds.

Anyone have any idea on how to set up these side panniers? I see givi monolock hr4 on them and when searched it looks like they were made for the ninja 250

Yes, you're quite right. Thanks, I didn't notice that. I think you'd be OK going a bit over, as long as you don't put a silly amount of weight in it.
Actually The panniers have a recommended weight of something like 10kgs if I remember correctly.

@Hoanghai96: the monorack does fit the cbr, but you have to fiddle a bit with bars (bend them over) to get them to bolt to the grab handle bolt holes and over the side. The front end just can be bolted to the pillion peg brackets.

Rio,
1) Which monorack system (fit what bike) did you modify to fit the CBR250r ??
2) Why couldn't you move the panniers forward a bit so they didn't stick out the back so far ?? (so a guy could leave signals in stock location)(Was exhaust in the way ??)

I totally love the set-up and would love something simular on my bike !!
Thanks

1.The monorack is the GIVI HR4, not sure which bike it was made for actually.

2. believe you me I would have much preferred to but exhaust was in the way. There's quite a bit of heat on the bottom of the panniers even where they are. I was more concerned at how far they stick out the side. If they were in just another 1.5 inches each side it would be better but what to do.

I actually ended up using the mounting holes for the indicators for the racks to give it just a bit more stability, especially the top box. And the indicators seem reasonably snug under the top box rack.

This is a bit hilarious: here is my neighbor on our farm up in the hills helping me load part of our dry field rice crop (organic, yeah!!) into the Givi Panniers - 8 kgs each left and right, 2.5 kgs on top. Got back home fine, a tiny bit lurchy on the corners but no real issues at all. Even got up the 70m dirt track intact!

Basically the main restriction (10 kgs is a lot of luggage for one side!) for me is with the top box it can really mess with the aerodynamics once you are above 100km/h, especially if it's gusty - and the backwash from trucks going the opposite direction really hits the top box if you're too close.

Ive got a 52L givi top box, don't notice any instability or turbulence. It was on the bike when I took it to redline at 165KPH.
Love the box cuz it stores two full face helmets and some gear securely. Recommended.

Hmm that's interesting. On my last long trip I was riding thru heavy winds and a couple of times went quite close (1.5m) to trucks barreling down the road in the opposite direction. Normally just by tucking in a little bit I'm ok but with the box I could feel it catching the back. Mine is a smaller box too than yours. Interesting.

Just thought of something (hence the edit) - I have never ridden with just the top box only at speed. Maybe it's the combination of panniers and top box? (but manufacturers do stipulate no more than 110kph for top box.).
