so i have posted in several threads about me not having the valve inspection done. Got bike in Oct 2011. Oil change ~700km. then every ~4000km.
chain lube every ~500km. Rode bike hard all year with most riding done btwn May 2012 and Sept 2012. In that approx 6months riding i put on almost 13000km (odo at just under 15000km now)

So to be ready for this season i dropped off bike at shop at 11am yesterday. (more on shop later)
stopped in at 11am today to see if i could watch them work but they were putting the bike together when i walked in.

so i asked about the valves expecting them to be way off. Was surprised to hear that adjustment not needed. Everything in spec. in fact a bit on the loose side. Will post the actual numbers later. i asked him to write them down on the bill.

so did i get a rare bike that has not yet needed adjustment? valves good. chain good. tires still good after 15000km. Not regretting getting it done. peace of mind for this year. now i can continue to flog the pee out of the bike for another year :) (Dare i add... Its a HONDA! of course its perfection :) )

about this shop. they do excellent work on every kind of bike. They close to home (15min walk) and if you mechanically inclined you can even rent out a bay for $25/h and use all their tools/equipment/manuals/expert advice/internet. If they do the work they charge $80/h.

dont want to give free advert so removed name but shop blerb

I almost wish my valves would go out of spec so I could actually use my shiny new shim kit I bought last year (assuming it's the correct size). I bought it for my previous bike thinking the valves on that would need to be adjusted after 18,000km, but nope. Does anyone know what size shims the cbr uses?

Just an FYI - the cost for this work was $215 incl tax. This was for valve inspection and a G.C.O. (General Check Over) cleaned lube chain. Adjust throttle and clutch. Check tires/pressure. Did not get the oil done as i had it done in Oct and only 400km on it since then.

Mission Honda claimed my valves needed adjusting at the 600 mile service. Can't prove they did anything but the engine definitely sounded different when they gave it back.

I managed to purchase a Hot Cams shim kit on eBay for $60 and free shipping. I have a few bikes with the same size shims (7.48mm) and have enough to last me a lifetime. I never throw away any shims I save them and use them over again. On bikes where the shims wear from cam lobe contact I just turn them over next time.
