Local Dealer ordered 12 of the new CBR 250r s. Found out today from Honda hes only getting 2. Mine wont be in until May 7 and the second one third week in june. Said some dealers wont even get any. Demand is 4 times greater than the supply. Sure Glad i rushed right in there and ordered mine when i did. But was hoping for early april delivery, now have to wait another month.

Hate to hear that, hope that won't be affecting mine or anyone else's delivery on here.
Yeah, thats what the dealer told me up here in Canada as well that he had ordered about 60 and is only getting 18. Is the late delivery because of the disaster in Japan?
we in Malaysia only have abt 200 units, well thats the local distribuor target anyways. but i m suspecting thts the quota that we got. until the run the India production line, i think all dealership will be quotaed.
I went to Dealer yesterday in Canada. Last week he told me I would get my bike first week of April. Now he saws probably second week. Such a tease!

This really is bad news. Perfect storm of more orders than they expected combined with the disaster in Japan restricting parts and business operations in general. Could also be some production/quality control issues......

don't be shocked if you have to wait longer, sorry to say that but it's true

the Japan situation could have a world wide affect on our CBR's, but at this point, who really knows...

Judging from the size of this forum and the amount of active people, this forum seems to be the place to be to be updated on the CBR
I'm having a hard time with the excuse of the Japan Disaster (though tragic and I feel for the Japanese). It just really seems to be an excuse being thrown around by dealers here in North America. I say this because of the fact that the bikes are being built in Thailand. Could someone explain it better to me?
ou8jonesy: Yeah agreed because before the disaster in Japan happened I kept hearing of dealers pushing the date further and further.

Not sure we will ever get the real answer from the dealer Honda reps....but the Japan disaster has pretty much disabled the country...far worse than we realize...and even though the bikes destined for the U.S. and Canada are assembled in Thailand.....some components ...are very likely to be provided via Japan.

the Japan disaster can be only be used as their excuse for a small amount of time. They have to make money too, right? The CBR250R is a world wide bike, with the numbers their producing which will be a lot to my guess the longer they have the bikes sitting the more they will lose out on.

If they are using the Japan disaster as an excuse which i hope there not, well that's just shame on them, taking something tragic and using it to their benefit. Honda has a good rep, so I will need some evidence to back this before I myself can agree.
Yeah honda has a good rep but i don't think they are pumping out enough bikes.

Also rumor that I've herd to is that, some of the bikes stop by japan before coming here as well.

Im sure that there are some parts that are coming from Japan, and pretty much a lot of the automakers are cripple due to parts shortages, even some US plants are suffering from the parts shortages.

About them shipping bikes to Japan then to where we are at (USA) I don't know about that, it just seems too "extra" and that might be pointless and add on unwanted costs/fee's that can be avoided by shipping directly too America. If they are doing this, it's not the smartest thing to do.

The CBR250R is an affordable bike, they have to do things to make it affordable yet make profit off of it.

Actually, Thailand's need to ship off the Pacfic Coast and head past Japan, so why not stop there, and have the bikes inspect or what ever is needed, Just a possibility. As they travel across the pacific and into ports like Vancouver or any west coast port. So regardless they need to pass by Japan. It may be extra but im just saying from what i herd.

I just think it's pointless. If it's to inspect bikes, that makes it worse. If they can build the bikes their and have all the technology needed to build them correctly im sure what ever is needed to inspect them will be their too. So it just makes sense to do things all in one place rather than moving mass amounts of product that requires a lot of care. just my 0.02
Or maybe they stop off in japan to finalize some paper work or what not. point is bike are delayed and it does take time. Plus Honda doesn't have their own ship to move thing they have shipping companies with huge bikes and prob have to make stops at different ports to drop off certain crates and products.
I highly doubt they stop by Japan, unless they are also making a delivery there first.

As for the delay people have already stated it's because production isn't up to the orders yet.
I stopped by my dealer today and he said he didn't know where the bikes will arrive. He said I have the first reserved for black and another guy just reserved the red on today. He said he is expecting 2, one of each color....which is a little different from when I put my deposit down and they made it sound like they were getting several.
I would imagine that being behind in production they (Honda's decision makers) are delivering more bikes to higher volume areas first, then one of two to smaller markets. I don't know what our market is, although I have some faith since our city has the only Mini dealership to provide for at least 2-3 other states around ours. Of course it could also mean the regional market is so small....
Thanks for all the input everyone. Honda is a big company. They have factories of all kinds around the world. The one in Thailand is one of the oldest. So the stopping by japan for a once over or paper work just doesn't make any sense. Honda would not be the size they are if everything had to be Micro Managed by Head Office.

Either way, I can't wait for my Bike and Hope the very best for the people of Japan.
Is not their a person from Thai Honda on this forum that could give us some solid feedback on the situation? I am practically having wet dreams about getting my new ABS red CBR250r.

Did anyone read John Burn's write up in April's CycleWorld? He really liked it & while admitting the Ninja was a tick faster, the Honda "just plain works better everywhere". He made it sound awesome & made me even taste it more. I want mine.
We are all with you there Kutter. Bought my Helmet, Wet Suit, Jacket, Gloves & Boots and they just sit there. The weather in Canada is starting to look really nice for a spring ride!
