Local Dealer ordered 12 of the new CBR 250r s. Found out today from Honda hes only getting 2. Mine wont be in until May 7 and the second one third week in june. Said some dealers wont even get any. Demand is 4 times greater than the supply. Sure Glad i rushed right in there and ordered mine when i did. But was hoping for early april delivery, now have to wait another month.
This really is bad news. Perfect storm of more orders than they expected combined with the disaster in Japan restricting parts and business operations in general. Could also be some production/quality control issues......

I'm having a hard time with the excuse of the Japan Disaster (though tragic and I feel for the Japanese). It just really seems to be an excuse being thrown around by dealers here in North America. I say this because of the fact that the bikes are being built in Thailand. Could someone explain it better to me?
Not sure we will ever get the real answer from the dealer Honda reps....but the Japan disaster has pretty much disabled the country...far worse than we realize...and even though the bikes destined for the U.S. and Canada are assembled in Thailand.....some components ...are very likely to be provided via Japan.

Is not their a person from Thai Honda on this forum that could give us some solid feedback on the situation? I am practically having wet dreams about getting my new ABS red CBR250r.

Did anyone read John Burn's write up in April's CycleWorld? He really liked it & while admitting the Ninja was a tick faster, the Honda "just plain works better everywhere". He made it sound awesome & made me even taste it more. I want mine.
Yes, the John Burns CycleWorld article is overwhelmingly positive. The most in depth ( and also very positive) article and comparison available so far is in the April issue of Motorcycle Consumer News. This magazine does not take advertising dollars so possibly their article is even more telling. MCN is sold thru the mail only so not on the newstands.
