Is not their a person from Thai Honda on this forum that could give us some solid feedback on the situation? I am practically having wet dreams about getting my new ABS red CBR250r.

Did anyone read John Burn's write up in April's CycleWorld? He really liked it & while admitting the Ninja was a tick faster, the Honda "just plain works better everywhere". He made it sound awesome & made me even taste it more. I want mine.
Yes, the John Burns CycleWorld article is overwhelmingly positive. The most in depth ( and also very positive) article and comparison available so far is in the April issue of Motorcycle Consumer News. This magazine does not take advertising dollars so possibly their article is even more telling. MCN is sold thru the mail only so not on the newstands.

Sport Rider not so positive

Sport Rider"s article on the same subject seemed to give the nod to Kaw so much I think Kaw paid them off. Saying crap like when you outgrow the Honda the Kaw would have more to offer.

I guess if you're interested in tempting the law doing 100+ mph, Kaw is your bike. I prefer to go fast w/o sounding like I'm racing; draws less heat.

My local dealer said demand is huge, he's expecting to be getting two non ABS bikes by the end of April early May. Those are already sold. I want an ABS model which he is realistically expecting to arrive sometime in JULY!

I agree i'd rather have a quieter bike atm, though later on when i get a much bigger bike that can out run certain cars =P then i wont mind how fast i go or loud i am ;)
That could actually be a safetyproblem in the traffic - pedestrians as we all know, dont see anything when crossing the road, i seen it "often" when driving on my former cbr125
I dont drive fast, and i even wear a yellow west

The cbr125 didnt sound af nothing when driving in cities, so i used the "grunth" it had when using throttle to warn pedestrians when i noticed they didnt looked at me before entering the road - that is something im concerned about the quiet 250, so i will as soon as possible change exhaust on it

Was at my dealer yesterday & I asked if they had any idea when The CBR250's would come in & they had NO IDEA. NOT a good sign. My wife says "that will give you more time to save the $$" Almost optimistic. I took my CM450c out for a nice ride today testing a path of back roads to get to work. Takes one hour to do the 35 mile journey. It takes nearly the same time & just as many miles to get there daily in my RAV4 on the expressways but my 450 will use 1/3 the fuel & be one *** of a lot more fun. I can't wait to do it on my new CBR250r.

A dealer telling you they have no idea when they will see the bike is probably the most honest thing that can be said at this time. If you are waiting for an ABS model like I am the time frame is "no idea + a completely unknown additional wait".

I just put down a deposit today in Florida.... The dealer said April 25th like a lot of other people have been saying. I find it hard to believe that it would be pushed back at all or much further than the 25th if the release date is in two weeks. However, when I asked him when he would "really know" when the shipments would get there, he said only Yamaha gives them some type of tracking number/shipping time.

I love everything about the bike except for that ugly silver exhaust...

I also put a deposit down today, I'm in Mississippi and the dealer has a date of June 26th for his first delivery of bikes. That's ANY CBR250R, ABS or non-ABS of any color. He said also that the Powersports dealers are supposed to get them before that.

I put the deposit on a red standard, and that officially "pre-sold" his entire lot of bikes. He's getting 5 of them, and the one I put money on was the last one available. He says demand is beyond huge, he has sold every Ninjette 250, new or used, that he can get his hands on. Any small-displacement bike here is flying off the lot due to gas prices. No idea at all when any more of these 250's might come his way, the havoc in Japan is what he blames (even though the bike it built in a Thai facility, parts from Japan are being affected).

It's the first time I've felt fortunate at having to wait more than 2 months (so far) for a bike.

Thanks. Probably close to half the guys I know with the CBR here have done the same.

It's really quite easy (and cheap).

Sand it, clean with white spirits, then spray a few coats of paint. Sand it again and when happy with it spray on the clear lacquer. Probably only a few dollars to do.
