What exactly does the speedometer sensor track?

What is the mechanism exactly? I know some track the rotation of the wheels, others the transmission. Does anyone have a good idea of how it works on our bike? where the ''laser'' is pointed...

If you asked because you changed sprockets and the speedo is giving you wrong info, there is a device called speedo healer that allow you to set your own setting.

Actually I was asking because my clutch is extremely worn, and the bike is transmiting torque poorly. I might as well also ask, can a worn out clutch make the engine run poorly? Like even in idle
...can a worn out clutch make the engine run poorly? Like even in idle
Yes: If you put it in gear, and you are at a full stop with a slipping clutch, then it is possible that the slight resistance of the slipper clutch will reduce the idle rpm.
No: Even if the clutch slips, when in neutral OR When in gear but the clutch lever is pressed, in both cases
the idle rpm should be normal, which is around 1400rpm.
No: If you put it in gear, and accelerate with a slipper clutch, then the engine should rev as normal, but the power will not go fully to the rear wheel, or not go at all.
