The Manual says i can use SAE 10w-30......does this mean i can use any motor oil that has that viscosity? I live in south Florida and all year round its pretty hot.....is that a good oil to use? How many quarts does the 250r use?

Oil is probably the most widely discussed topic on any motorcycle forum, why don't you do a search? Or as suggested, look in your manual.

i just use the Pro Honda HP4S 4-Stroke Motor Oil 10W-30 racing oil. seems to work well.

When I bought oil from my dealer they tried to give me 3 quarts of 10-40..i made them give me 2 quarts of 10-30 instead...i guess either works just as well..I would say 10-40 is slightly better for hotter climates....I cant believe they didnt even know how much oil the motorcycle I bought from them held

the Xspurts down here say: "use thicker oil bro , is hot down here , you want thicker oil"

thicker oil is better but used that Honda 10w-30 crap on this one every oil change and she runs fine

Use what the manual says, in fact use Honda full syn.

The thinner oil allows the engine to hit the fuel shutoff quicker

Oil threads usually go on and on. Everyone has their opinion on what oil is the best. Just use what your manual says.

this being the first motorcycle ive done any maintanance on and an oil change on, i too asked this question on the forum..you will find the answer to your question in the manual, but GN4 10W 30 sae is the stuff that i ended up using..seems to work just fine..
